Hey thanks for this. I have been developing a company based on Adventure Recording, compositions made from obscure field recordings. I have been confused on how to get them to market, and your words helped. Thank you.

For many years I've been struggling to understand what genre I should specialise in when pursuing my passion from music. Because I like producing R&B lo-fi drill cinematic, sometimes pop house, etc. Since hearing about MusicSync, I realised that this is probably the best industry, that I should have a go in, because I can showcase my passion for music and all of the genres which I like composing for. thank you for this informative video I really appreciate your time.

I'm the same way, I love producing in lots of different styles, so sync licensing has been a real blessing for me. Thanks for watching.

This is fantastic content and I’m looking forward to getting started. I’m a composer based in Glasgow, Scotland looking to start my sync licensing adventure. I’m learning so many tips on KZfaq for free which is amazing so I really appreciate it. I was hoping to do Tommy Zee’s course but I just can’t afford it so these videos go a long way! ❤

I appreciate this info, I have reached part time income but would really like to kick it up to being able to work music full time. At your level, are you choosing to build a KZfaq channel and education platform because you’ve hit a ceiling or you just want a change of pace? I’m just wondering if it would be necessary for me to pursue similar things if I want to go beyond a certain level
@Steven_Beddall Жыл бұрын
If I just focused solely on writing music and had no other obligations I’d be making way more money. KZfaq and Academy are definitely labours of love and I get a lot of personal value from the community but in terms of time put in they aren’t super profitable endeavours, I do it because I like connecting with people and I enjoy educating. I do make money from it but not as much as I do from composing. I like the variety, sometimes it’s nice to step away from composing, and connecting with others inspires me!

Thank you! Is it best to copyright, publish, and register material with BMI/ASCAP before submitting it to royalty-free libraries? What about production libraries - if you already have published/released artist material, are production libraries interested in that? Do they typically ask you to sign over your publishing if it's already setup, or is it too late for them to want to work with you at that point?

Hi Stevie, thank you for this valuable information! I wanted to ask you something regarding singer/songwriters. My main goal with sync licensing is to grow my fanbase. So in that case, would you even recommend going to a royalty free site? I mean, making money is great too. But what is the best place to pitch songs that are already written and meant to be listened to outside of TV/film?
@Steven_Beddall11 ай бұрын
I think for singer songwriters who are primarily looking for exposure, working with music supervisors can be a great way to find reach for your music. You ideally want to go after featured placements on TV and films and supervisors can help connect those dots. The right sync library can get you there too. Most royalty free (stock music) sites won't have a major impact on your artist profile unless you're working with an artist focused platform like Artlist. My catalogue on Artlist has had a really positive impact for me in terms of exposure and Spotify streams.

Hi Stivie! Sorry for asking! Are you exclusive with Motion Array and Artlist? Or are the same songs on both platforms? Last question, can you use exclusive songs on your personal Spotify profile? Thank you so much always!!
@Steven_Beddall Жыл бұрын
I'm non exclusive with both. Same songs are on both libraries except for tracks that I've registered with content ID. Artlist doesn't allow that. Also, not all MA tracks work stylistically for Artlist. With regards to your other question, it depends on the library's contract terms. You have to reach out to them and ask for clarification. Hope that helps 😊

Not sure if you’re going to read this since im very late, but I was wondering if under 18 year olds could make money off of sync lisensing? I’ve been making music for about 4 years now and I do believe my music is at a level where I could be earning money. Thanks!
@Steven_Beddall Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what the age restrictions are for music libraries if there are any at all, many of them will require you to prove identity with driver's license or similar ID, and you will need to fill out tax forms etc

What's content ID?
@Steven_Beddall10 ай бұрын
It's an automated system that enables copyright owners to identify KZfaq videos that include content they own, and earn a share of the ad revenue
