Hey Art! Usually these days it’s one and the same, all the tracks I send to Artlist are uploaded to Spotify too, and other libraries publish to Spotify under different names as well

The hardest thing about these submissions is having 5 unpublished tracks. That's a lot of time to make tracks that could be posted on Pond5 making money and are sitting around waiting to be accepted by a fussy library instead.

you can upload them, but once accepted to an exclusive library just delete them

Yeah it's always tough to know whether or not a library will best serve your music in the long run. While you may earn some sales on Pond 5, you can also earn consistent royalties from a great sync placement. That's why it's important to consistently be writing new material and always look for new opportunities and connections.

Hi Steve, thanks for your help! Most of the production music libraries that I see require exclusive deals. Do they pay me upfront for the tracks? And once they accept them, what should I do? I just have to wait and hope they will use them in some production so I can get my royalties?

Most exclusive libraries don't pay upfront consideration fees. Hopefully they will place your music and in time, you can collect royalties. It takes time and persistence.

Hi Steve, should I register my tracks with ASCAP before I apply to Artlist or should I go exclusive with them? These are new tracks that are not used anywhere. Which is a better case scenario in your experience? Thanks for your videos they are great and helpful!!

If you plan to sell your tracks to Artlist, then don't register with ASCAP, they will act as your publisher. The only case where I register my own music with my PRO is when I intend the music to be completely non exclusive.

Update: Applied to Artlist on 16th and got a response today. Rejected! Not giving up and will try again later, thanks for all your videos!
