I have a small story about the original Honda 50/70 Trail mini cycles of the 60's/70's. I had been racing my lawn mower engined mini bike at the new mini bike races in Merrit Island Florida that had become popular in the late 60's. I was getting trophies almost every weekend as one of the best riders in Brevard County. And then the Honda Trail 50's/70's started showing up and they were very hard to beat for the old style mini bikes. at this point in time it was only age classed, race what you brung and I always raced in the open class. About the second time I got beat by the Hondas I showed my Dad (who was an Engineer at Cape Canaveral) an article in Mini bike/Mini cycle magazine about a Bonanza Mini cycle from Oregon with a Hodaka 100cc motorcycle engine in it. I never thought to ask him to buy one i was just showing him the article. Next thing OI know a big wooden crate shows up at the house and it's the Bonanza. It looked like a fairly normal mini bike but had suspension front and rear with slightly bigger wider tires with a motorcycle style gas tank and handle bars and a Hodaka 100cc 5 speed engine/trans with an expansion chamber and exposed foam air filter. The thing would do 60 mph and would pull wheelies at 50 mph. So we show up at the next race and I am pulling power wheelies through the pits, my dad recognized the rumblings and told me to stop but the point had been made. When we meet for the riders meeting some of the Dad's were protesting (including a couple of the hondas who had been winning) and I was ruled in eligible due to my transmission. My Dad protested the ruling rightfully pointing out that the Hondas had a big advantage for months over the mini bikes without gears and suspension and higher HP. The organizers agreed and allowed me to race. I lapped the field several times as it was a man against boys type of race. After that they broke it into transmission/cc/HP classes with 5 speed transmissions ruled ineligible so that was my last mini bike race.

I have a 2006 Harley 883 custom. Bought it in 2011. it only has 4300 miles on it. lucky if I put 100 miles a season. would love to trade it for the Monkey. just a cool bike.

I got a 2022 and when you buy it the suspension is trash, the seat height is for an adult and the suspension is for a toddler?? Put 300lb shocks on back but the front is no easy fix,requires special tools and knowing hydraulics, that said I have a lot of mods and the bike is very fun and yeah my HD just sits now.
