In this video, Dr. Berg discussed the 10 triggers of inflammation.
Problems with Inflammation
1. Certain diseases tend to travel and migrate to areas of inflammation.
2. There is an immune reaction with histamine - too much histamine in the body could make you tired.
10 Triggers of Inflammation
1. Food Allergies (Dairy, Nuts, Gluten) - Eating something you are allergic to would cause inflammation in the gut, small or large intestines, certain parts of the body could be allergic to certain things but not the other parts.
2. Insulin Resistance (Sugar) - This comes from sugar (Hidden Sugars like juice, bread, pasta, cereal, and sweetener) and could cause higher amounts of inflammation, stiffness, and pain in the body and the joints. Sugar is highly inflammatory.
3. Cortisol (Autoimmune) - It is an anti-inflammatory hormone and is produced by the outer portion of the adrenal glands. Low cortisol or cortisol resistance could cause an inflammatory condition. Any condition that includes taking synthetic cortisol is an adrenal weakness. Licorice root is good to take as a natural cortisol replacement.
4. Old Injuries - Intermittent fasting would greatly reduce the inflammation even from old injuries.
5. Infection - It is part of the immune system where the body attacks certain things. It is recommended to take herbal antibiotics like cloves, oregano, and garlic, to avoid the sugar that feeds the infection.
6. Oxidants (Free Iron) - This is from too much sugar, junk food, alcohol, and free iron. Free Iron is very corrosive and oxidative in the body, it destroys and oxidizes the brain, and arteries would create a rusting effect. Too much excess iron could cause a lot of infection, oxidants, and more problems.
7. Alcohol (Junk Foods) - the liver would be damaged and would cause a lot of inflammation.
8. Omega 6 (Corn, Soy) - It’s a highly inflammatory GMO product.
9. Raw Nuts (Seeds) - Has enzyme inhibitors and tend to create a problem with digestion, especially in the gallbladder.
10. Gallbladder - Congested gallbladder swells up and becomes deficient in bile which could cause bloating and inflammatory conditions in the gut.

I’ve read that a small amount of sugar with a high-protein meal can make it easier for amino acids (breakdown products of proteins) to be transported into the bloodstream. This is presumably why our ancestors in all corners of the earth independently invented the concept of dessert. And of course, breakfast tends to be our highest-sugar meal of the day, since our blood sugar is at its lowest when waking up after not eating or drinking for 8 or so hours. Sugar in small amounts & at the right times is crucial to our existence. And I say that as someone who went to war against dietary sugars in 1999 and lost 90 pounds over the ensuing year. (6’3” male, from 235 to 145 lbs.)

It's all about balance. Too much water can also be poisonous. So a little bit of natural sugar isn't so bad. The problem is they put Sugar and Corn Syrup in Everything. Most products use Corn Syrup because it's cheaper than Cane sugar and sells more products because you can consume more before feeling full. It's also worse for you.

I've had chronic pain my entire adult life brought on by extreme stress and anxiety when my husband died in a car accident when I was just 23 years old with a 3 week old baby. Doctors always accused me of being a drug seeker because I was so young and never got any real help from them. How different my life would have been if I had met one like you. You are exceptional and a rare commodity in today's health care system. Thank you for all the outstanding information!

Marianne, chronic pain is not normal (pain lasting months and years). Acute pain is (pain from something, but it heals). I eat an anti-inflammatory diet like Dr. Berg suggests, but I still have chronic pain. One thing that I’ve added is working on the stress and emotions causing the pain. It’s helped a lot. Look up Dr. John Sarno, Dr. Howard Schubiner, and Nicole Sachs. They all talk about chronic pain (tension myositis syndrome), and the brain getting into a chronic loop that needs to be changed. New neural pathways can be changed in the brain. Like Dr. Sarno says, a broken femur is painful, but after six months, it’s healed, and the pain is gone. Pain shouldn’t go on for months and years on end. There’s two films out there to look for too. “All the Rage” and “This Might Hurt”. The pain is real so there’s no doubting that, but healing the emotions will help with the pain being chronic. Good luck!

@@crh251 thanks for the advice. No doubt a stressful life will compound the pain and my stress started when I was widowed at age 23 with a 3 week old baby to raise alone, promptly became an alcoholic to numb the grief, had a series of health problems which required surgeries and hospitalizations, nursed a dying sister and both parents before I was 30....Thankfully I've been sober for over 30 years now but no wonder I'm in pain! I had Covid last year and my legs blow up like balloons on a regular basis now and no one knows what to do about it. It's so painful i can barely walk.

Once I was in my 30s, after having my 2nd child 13 months after the birth of my 1st child, making major moves during both of those pregnancies, and being in a multiple car pile up accident 6 weeks after giving birth to my 2nd child, my body completely shut down in severe chronic fatigue. I lived in this fatigue for the next 8-1/2 years until a doctor (who had been trained by Dr Berg, I might add!) diagnosed the source of my severe chronic fatigue was my adrenals. During that time when I went to the dentist, I was told I had 10 cavities and inflammation everywhere, my teeth, my gums, and even in my bones. (I was shocked because I had not had a cavity since I was a teen, and here I had 10 at once.) I had just been diagnosed before that visit as having vertigo because I was so extremely dizzy I could not walk. What the dentist told me about the inflammation made sense to me and explained the vertigo. Thankfully after going to an array of MDs, I found a DC like Dr Berg and trained by him who was the first doctor in 8-1/2 years who diagnosed that my adrenals were the source of the fatigue. Two weeks and 6 treatments later, I had lasting energy once again for the first time in over 8-1/2 years. I never considered the iron part of my overall health history until I this video. Thank you, again, Dr Berg, for sharing your knowledge with so many of us to make a difference in the lives of so many people. Even more reason here supporting keto and intermittent fasting, especially for me!

I took your gallbladder course and continue to watch videos like this one. Thanks so much for your insight and wisdom. I seriously check every box on the list. Thanks to you I can see how it's all coming together. Now, I make different choices because I understand how I can turn things around. I looked up what drugs trigger gallbladder inflammation. I'm super allergic to erythromycin. Binging on peanuts and omega 6 salty chips, caffeinating my raging cortisol lifestyle with double shot lattes, and surviving the sleepless nights on hyper-estrogenic junk food all came to fruition when I started working at some local wineries. Imbibing all those weird yeasts extended the decades I spent learning about candida --it showed up after taking birth control pills. I've been super aware of the celliac disease from one side of the family without understanding how gallbladder weakness from the genes on the other side also makes grains a problem. Breast cancer taught me about the evils of iron-scavenging bacteria although my case had more to do with the magic of sulfate. Been there. Done it all Should've gotten the t-shirt by now. Rock on, Dr. Eric! Following. Losing weight. Fasting. Making mistakes. Learning. Trying again. Worth it.

I had inflammation in one of my eyes (iritis) that caused damage, which lead to an elevated eye pressure in that eye (glaucoma). After 10 years of varied eye drops, I still lost most of the vision in that eye. Then I had 2 surgeries to implant a stint that was supposed to help to manage the eye pressure. It only caused more chronic inflammation. Finally, I had decided to do my own research, and have discovered Keto. I have been on Keto and IF for 1.5 years and was able to get the inflammation under control, and well as help to manage the eye pressure without any medications. This has been life-changing! Thank you for teaching and educating about this. I only wish my eye doctor would have known about Keto, and have recommend it to me instead of the surgeries.

I had iritis at the age of 13. Didn’t realize the connection to auto immune inflammation until recently. Hypothyroidism at 28.. found to have Hashimoto’s in 2019. Lots of body stiffness and joint pain the past couple years. Geographic tongue. Just saw a Rheumatologist last week who will be ordering tests. I’m hyperflexive and my hips are loose. Feel like the iritis was the first item that began my inflamed life.
