I think horror games having the infinite ammo/invincibility/etc.. locked behind beating the game in the hardest way is meant to give you a way to go back through and take out all your frustration and anger on the critters that tormented you for however many hours it took to unlock the thing in the first place.

Gameranx is one of those channels that puts out videos that I genuinely look forward to each week. I also find myself going back years to watch previous videos just to watch something. Absolutely flawless entertainment.

I definitely got that Goldeneye cheat but it took a few weeks. I don't know if they updated it later on, but I remember there being a few other random spawns that messed with my run. It is possible that I am remembering it incorrectly since it was nearly 25 years ago but there's no way I'm ever forgetting the Facility itself.

7:24 I love getting these rings. Here's my tip if you want to get them both at the same time, like I did. First, farm the crap out of the Giant Lord using bonfire aethstetics in regular NG. Don't use any of his soul drops though. Then play NG+. Use Santier's Spear so you don't have to worry about weapon durrability, and ignore everything and go straight to the Shrine of Winter. Pop the Giant lord souls until they open, and you can skip some of the most annoying sections of the game. You only need to beat Nashandra to get the rings.

The Metal Gear series has two. The stealth suit: Complete the game without being detected. Unlimited Ammo Bandana: Complete the game without killing anyone.

Man unlocking all the Goldeneye AND Perfect Dark stuff, was just like you described. Half figuring out/practicing the perfect speed run, half replaying for the optimal rng and then full on butt clinching trying not to screw it up when everything was going well

In the game Killer is Dead, there was a final upgrade that allowed the protagonist to constantly use his ultimate ability which was a finishing move if I can remember correctly. It was fun. It did sort of break the game because every enemy immediately died. I do not remember how to unlock aforementioned final upgrade but it took awhile.

Ah yes. The two illusionary rings. Man was that one hell of a trip lol. I can clearly remember that my hands ended up sweating a lot back then. Especially with some of those boss fights. It was hectic, but a lot of fun. I was quite proud of myself after managing to obtain both of them after just two playthroughs. It is just a pity that Dark Souls 2 is mostly abandoned now. Would have been fun to use those things rings again. Even if it was just for the joke of it all.

Thankfully the Mass Effect Legendary Edition makes it so it's only 5 quests you have to do with Liara and other squad members for trophies, but sadly like a lot of modern games now no fun or good cheats.

This video reminds me of getting all the Stray Beads in Okami. Literally have to play through the game entirely to get them all because one it collected for beating the game, so you can only even use the rewards (infinite health and ink) in later playthroughs.

Number 2: Wrex was also a good pick. Gave you health regen even if you aren't playing Soldier. If you are playing Soldier; it just makes it better. If you add Health regen mods on top of both of those = you are God. Biotic not included ; ) ** Should note: The game also keeps track of how many missions you did... so it takes maybe 2 or 3 playthroughs in general at worst.

When I was 16, I watched my cousin run through the GoldenEye level in less than two minutes like it was nothing. He was that gamer on another level before there was online console gaming. Loved watching him play games.

Getting both illusory rings in Darksouls 2 at the 1st journey was absolute hell. But my proudest achievement ever.

This video is fun. Nice to hear that there are still unlockable cheats around. I feel nowadays once you beat a game you get nothing but a harder level... At least. Anything that resembles a cheat or unlockable is just sold as DLC at this point.

The Dead Space 2 Hand Canon is fun for a bit but then it becomes boring. Probably doesn't help that you've likely played through the game numerous times by the time you unlock it. Also, the Xbox 360 version of DS2 is probably the easiest way to unlock it. When the game came out, initially, the game treated the disc change as a checkpoint. So, if you managed to get to the second disc without using a save, you basically had a free checkpoint in the event you fucked up, like I did. Also, if you got the preorder bonuses, they also made the early game pretty easy. You got a good suit with plenty of inventory slots so you didn't have to worry about running out of space. I also found the enemies in Hard mode to be more difficult than the ones in Hard Core. Ammo wasn't as plentiful, but the enemies didn't feel any more difficult to deal with. It might have been more to do with the fact that I had gotten used to the game and had everything figured out that it became easy anyhow. Biggest problem was always those shitty quick time events that were too easy to mess up. But outside of that, it was mostly a cakewalk. The hardest part of the game, IMO, is the part where you're riding the drill and enemies are constantly coming in from every angle and even then I didn't have a problem with it because I knew which guns worked best for the scenario. Dead Space is so much fun. It's a shame 3 was ass.

I got the Super Sonic cheat in Sonic Colors and while it was a little on the tedious side; it wasn't all that bad. Back when Colors was on the Wii, I ended up completing the game 5 times (all 180 Red Rings and S Ranks) just for the fun of it. When Colors Ultimate came out, I only did it once but then had the save data corruption that wiped my progress after I had done everything so I had to do it all over again. One game that was truly challenging to unlock was Super Dante from the first Devil May Cry game. Completing the game's top difficulty (Dante Must Die) enabled players to have Dante with unlimited Devil Trigger gauge which is a worthwhile reward for making it through brutal challenge. I remember my fight against final boss; my successful attempt took 90 minutes; my attacks were doing minimal damage whereas if I got hit, I lost nearly all my health so I had to do everything almost perfectly. Somehow I made it back then but I don't think I could do it again.

I beat RE7 on madhouse my first time playing it, cause my brother had beat it on easy. Madhouse difficulty should've been unlockable from the Start because it was an unbeliveable experience. So intense.

I have 3 younger brother's and boy was golden eye huge in our house, my parents banned the golden gun because it would just start fights haha, also we used to put cardboard in the middle of the screen to stop screen watcher's. Good times.

The only game i enjoy using infinite bullets in is DMC (a bit on Bayo too)

Heard of a cheat. That will make a highway come up near the docks in Vice City. With the ride on water cheat you can go to the highway. If you ride on the highway at night, it will take you to a futuristic city.

I remember in Skyrim, in order to unlock the Ebony warrior boss battle, U need to reach lvl 81 and in order to do that by normal means is just so time consuming, with a few mods on PC is less of a bore, but still if u don't cheat or use console commands U will spend and entire day just grinding for max alchemy over and over, which btw is very proftable way to get filthy rich in the game, like my previous run I had 200k septims just by selling OP potions

The dark souls 2 rings are great, wish they were in other games. However since they only make the weapons invisible they're useless in normal play. I have them but they're much easier to get in NG+. Otherwise they're really fun to use, swinging or casting invisible items

The special sword you get in the MediEvil remake for completing the carnival mini games. It is a chore to get, there are a lot of levels just to get 1 ticket and when you get it, it gets obsolet after level 5 when you get a better sword.

I like how Falcon unlocked "God Mode" for his tree branch so that it could support a TV, stand, and console all on the flimsy branches ... 😆

In DS2 i used illusory rings with a brass knuckle and a long ass katana. Started punching like crazy, animation actually hits with the other hand too. so people though I was bare handed boxing or something. Than the special Katana strikes ''hides your fists'' to charge, and hits like 10 km away. Classic unfair instakill. Fun though

A bonus should have been the Tales Of games. After beating the game you can use point you've accumulated to "buy" cheats for a New Game+. Things like take all your items, more damage, or even harder enemies.

Whenever there was a "cheat" ability in a game which was awarded by beating the game 100% at the highest difficulty level (difficulty level that usually itself unlocks by beating the game at the "base" highest difficulty level...), I always felt I was the one cheated by the game, instead than the other way around. You get the OP ability you've been missing for 40 to maybe 150 hours of gameplay, and immediately you stop playing the game forever, as there's nothing left to do in there for you. That's fraud if you ask me! (LOL! ... But also OUCH!) Thanks for your videos!

On goldeneye I remember using GameShark, which let you have cheats enabled but made the game think you didn’t, so you were able to have cheats active even when unlocking new levels and difficulties and other cheats

I remember using a cheat code in the main menu of puyo-puyo Tetris to unlock every character with zero effort.

2:24 my brother and I unlocked every cheat for Goldeneye. There was a glitch in the facility where if you shot 006 guys in the green suits would just keep coming in waves. It would never end. Kinda fun as a teen to just mess around with different weapons. I used to take the laser gun (cause you never had to reload) and post up in a hallway and tape the trigger down and do something else. Come back later and I’d have thousands of kills.

Got the Goldeneye one way back in the day and the Deadly Premonition one also. I'm surprised I got two from this list.

Here is a little trick to help you get through those no save runs, Most of those games will allow you to turn the game off and then when you return, you can continue off where you were last, Tip#1= make some progress in your no save run, turn the game off, copy your save file to an USB memory stick, turn the game back on and repeate, I will do this either in areas that was tuff to get to get through or where new levels start, if you die, you can exit the game, copy your USB save file over your main save file and now you can continue where you last did your USB save, Tip#2= If your getting close to dying, hit the playstation button on the controller and close the game down, when you load back, you will continue off just before that battle, I do this more so than the first tip, the first tip gives you a way to save your progress while tip 2 allows you to keep on trying your last battle

I miss cheats! Used to be so much fun to go back after beating a game and "cut loose" so to speak.

The Eternal Darkness cheat made me so sad when I unlocked it. All that work, and what I wanted more than anything was infinite health, infinite ammo and ALWAYS EMPTY sanity!

I have the laser sword in Deadly Premonition and all the unlocks in Eternal Darkness as well. Would love to see a remaster of Eternal Darkness.

I was able to get the GoldenEye cheat. Took a lot of runs, basically remembered every detail of the level by heart until I finally unlocked it. Man it was fun playing the game afterward.

Rainbow Weapons in Ratchet: Gladiator is something i suspect very few have unlocked, you have to get the weapon to level 99 to get them (NG+)

Silent Hill 3 also had a light sword you could unlock. Though it was fairly easy to obtain. If it was half as hard as any on the list I wouldn't have been able to do it.

Funfact: my brother got the DS2 hand cannon. At the time I never really knew how much he went through to get it. And it's still one of the most impressive things I have seen in video games history.

I have to beg to differ on your choice for GoldenEye I unlocked that particular cheat many different times for myself and others it really wasn't that frustrating however unlocking 007 mode that did test my patience

7:56 You can react. The stance the enemy character has will reveal what type of weapon they have and you will know how fast those type of weapons are :D Also, it is easy to get them. Just get 1 or 2 friends into the run with you and they can carry you, you won't die and you don't have to care about bonfires XD

Number 10 is made easy if you get the circular saw unlocked first. It's still tough, but now you have a weapon that does massive damage and makes most enimies a joke.

I did get the first DS ring, never got the exaultant by never resting. If you cheese enough bosses and don't do the optional bosses then you have a chance. Not easy, but still doable. A lot of reloading if you die, but that's where the saves help.

The hardest part for me in RE7 madhouse was the Mia encounter with the chainsaw. Took me hours to get past that part and the rest was smooth sailing relatively speaking.

Concerning the Super Sonic unlocks in Colors, it's probably about as useful as it is in Forces. 'Cause of level lengths and how broken everything tends to be. In Generations, all you have to do is finish the game, equip the skill, and it's a lot better overall! But perhaps the best use of an unlockable Super Sonic is in Lost World on the 3DS. Basically all that's needed there, is get a high score, and youll be taken to a special stage that makes use of...the 3DS's gyroscope. Not the greatest special stages, but get those out of the way, and Super Sonic becomes really satisfying in this particular game! In all honesty tho, I vastly prefer Super Sonic as part of the story, like Frontiers, Unleashed, and other Sonic games that have handled the form in that way before.

Oh, i need to add one: Nioh's *infinity arrows bow* ... actualy only unlockable by beating 999 stages in abyss mode. But the worst part it's is a random drop, so... and Nioh's rng is crazy! You can even top that if you try to get an infinity bow with a matching grace (Tachibana one as example) wich has a drop chance of 0.01% (lvl.320/140)... oh boy!!! 😆😅😅😂 That's tough af to get, but worth the effort, cause you never run out of arrows anymore + also works with the "blessed" ones! For sure one of the toughest items to get in a game!

2:56 I managed to get this only a few days ago on my Xbox. It literally took me an hour and I did throw my control into the pile of washing waiting to be folded on my couch a number of times.

Resident Evil 7 has some nice permanent unlocks. I unlocked all except the Madhouse ones after three full playthroughs of the game. It is in theory possible to do what I did in one playthrough on Normal. In practice, even with a guide I struggled.

The Simpsons hit and run had a cheat that could only be entered once you 100% the game that allows you to summon any vehicle from the phone booths in any map. It was fun when it came to the secret vehicles like the rocket car, the monorail, the RC car etc and also spawning the ghost cars and witches on brooms as Lisa (for example) and stuff

I've unlocked the GoldenEye cheat I didn't remember it being super hard just a little frustrating. I also unlocked the Dead Space 2 finger gun I didn't really find it that difficult just because that's how much I love that game

Dark souls 2 is brutal the fact that you had to beat the game without dying with that type of hit boxes makes it near impossible. Plus not resting, Definitely not worth the rings because no one even plays Ds2 pvp anymore 💀

I‘ve got the RE7 one and I think getting the Cat Ears in RE4 was harder.

what's messed up is that the hand cannon in dead space 2 is bugged on pc and will not be unlocked even when fulfilling the conditions. still bugged to this day! i dunno about anyone else who played it on pc but i finally beat it 2 months ago and didn't get the cannon. downloaded an item editor out of frustration in the end. XD

Evil Within 2 has a fun Mass Effect style cheat, if you unlocked 100% achievement in the first game. They give you God mode + the ability to one-shot every enemy with any weapon.

The RE4 remake's infinite ammo cheat is also brutally difficult to unlock: you have to beat the game on professional mode with an S+ rank, without using bonus weapons. Meaning you have to beat the entire game within 5 and a half hours, saving no more than 15 times, can't use the infinite ammo bonus gun, nor can you try it on new game + and start with great weapons. Only a fair and square, new game run is allowed.

Another title this video could have used is "10 Video Game Cheats for masters of the game". I mean, you basically have to master each of these games to unlock each of the cheats... each one except Golden Eye, which you only have to master one level.

Wemod is the greatest thing to happen to single player pc games. Being a disabled gamer (nerve issues) it really helps me just to get through some games.

I remember when i was little my brother and i played golden eye ALL the time. he finally had gotten the invincible cheat unlocked after trying for a few days, the damn scientist being in the wrong spot did him in more times then just dying. eventually having all of his friends bring him their copies to unlock it for them. I've tried to do this on the xbox release and i forgot how hard it was to unlock this having to using the old janky controls compared to what we are use to now.

on 007 you can go to the ideal spawn, shoot 10 bullets walk into the corner and the guard on the other side will open the door, it's an old trick.

As long as you go to get Liara immediately it wasn't a hard achievement at all. A better example would be the Singularity achievement. Getting it let you use that power on any class. On a Soilder it is just busted.

Cranking that Facility challenge on the remake was so rewarding... but goddamn so many retries....

For some reason I got both the Ring of the Conqueror and the Ring of the exalted due to some weird network error glitch back at the end of 2015.

I miss the time singleplayer games had cheats that was fun. Like flying cars in GTA SA or useful ones like in jak 3 that you can buy infinite ammo. Ratchet and clank rift apart had unlimited ammo, which wanted me to do the gold bolts just to have unlimited ammo. Working for it feels better than just pressing som buttons tho.

The invincibility cheat in GoldenEye is easy to unlock.

I love eternal darkness. I played it 3 times just because I wanted to see the true ending, but yea after the 3 playthru's I haven't played it since.

I got at least the RE7 infinite ammo and the laser sword in Deadly Premonition, but in the infinite ammo thing, I was pretty much done with the game, especially since the cheat didn't carry over to the dlc stuff. Deadly Premonition is maybe better, since I'm considering on replaying it soon, but what's the point in the sword anyway since the infinite ammo guns are better in a lot of ways.

I unlocked infinite ammo in re7 when it first came out. Love that came so much. Madhouse is not a joke at all. It took me like 3 months to beat it

I've definitely beaten Eternal Darkness with each of the Ancients. I guess I must have unlocked Eternal Mode, kind of a moot point as even a decade or two later I still know the game well enough I don't think it would matter. I just wanted to see the "secret" ending. I think there was a secret ending, it's been while. Luckily, I do have a Wii & the Disk still.
