Making some cedar coasters that are 10mm thick with my 10 watt XTool D1. Will it work? No air assist installed.
My settings for this burn in lightburn were:
Fill- 70mm/s at 100% power using the fill preset, 1 pass
Cut- 7mm/s at 100% power- constant power engaged for 7 passes

The difference between manufacturers is surprising. I just put a plank of 26.25mm cedar in my 10watt Ortur Laser Master 3 LE with settings of 70mm speed and 100 power with 7 passes and it left a sliver of cedar in one spot, using air assist one test and no air assist the next test. The air assist test is more charred probably because of the extra oxygen it gets while cutting. It cuts through 18mm pine with a setting of 100 speed and 100 power in 4 passes.

I have a question regarding running the laser at 100 percent power, if you run the laser at 100 percent do you reduce the working life of the laser?
@TheClackShack
@TheClackShack 4 ай бұрын
In my opinion, No. If you keep it clean and use proper care, it should last longer than the bearings and other parts. Diodes are built to be ran up to 100%. If they wanted it less, they would limit it in the module. I have seen no proof of it making a difference. Keeping it clean does though

I haven't, Bamboo is very inconsistent to engrave. I would imagine cutting would be the same.

Depending on the thickness of the plywood. It will likely take a few passes. I run 7mm/s at 100% with 4 passes on 10 watt machines. Air assist and a honeycomb are a big help.
