Hey BB, My list of disappointing brown juices: Elmer T Lee E.H Taylor Small Batch Mitchers American Whiskey MM 42 Barrel Strength OF 1920

Willet 4yr rye, EC Toasted, four roses small batch, 13th colony bourbon and Henry McKenna 10 left me pretty disappointed

Loved the vibes coming back! My 5 disappointment bottles: McKenna 10yr Heaven Hill BiB Old Elk Sour Mash Penelope Barrel Strength Woodford Reserve Wheated

My 5 disappointing so far: Rare Breed (I like it but one of my least favorite turkey products and hyped up for me) Elijah Craig Toasted: grown to like it more but another hyped bottle Lucky Seven Holiday Toast: great bottle as I’m a movie fan and actually got it for $20 off on sale so could be worse but the spice just overpowers everything. Weller 12: just too subtle and nothing to write home about. Blanton’s: same as the weller. Plus it’s up around $90 or so so definitely not worth buying anymore. Honorable mention: benchmark full proof. Stagg is my favorite and the benchmark full proof has zero similarities. Just tastes like a loaf of bread. Haven’t been able to finish a pour of it.

Totally agree with 1920/OF in general. 1920 was one of my earliest purchases and it was so hot and astringent. Got 1897 as a gift and same it was hot and bitter despite being BiB. 1924 is pretty good but jd10 batch 3 is way better and cheaper. 1910 is fine, but I prefer woodford DO. Although I had tried an older label 1920 and thought it was really good so I think the newer batches are the issue

I would agree on everything, but the 1920. I just attended a 5 week Wednesday Bourbon Bash. The blinds was 15 different bourbons and the 1920 won out the blind competition

I agree regarding Blanton's and I only drink it when someone wants to try it. I've passed it up the last two times I saw it at a store for other better bottles I'd rather buy. However, everyone's palate is different. Were these 10 bottles a collection y'all were in agreement with? Or was it Jared's five picks and Ben's five picks?

Bottles that dissapointed me: Early Times BIB - it’s just meh Russell’s 10 - fine but over hyped OF 1870 - drain pour EHT SmB - it’s good but Eagle rare smokes it. Can’t think of a fifth. Old Forester I think the 100 bourbon is OK. I’d take it above the ET BiB and RR10. The OF Rye is a legit hitter though. Just do the content you dig. Love how genuine you guys are Oh and the only Blanton I’ve tired is a store pick I found recently. I like it.. but k wouldn’t spend the dough again.

I actually really liked Benchmark FP, you’re definitely right that it’s not the same as stagg but it hits a nice note for me and is one of the few bourbons that I would put over ice

Good to see you all back. Luckily I don’t have a bottle that I own so far that I really have been disappointed by. That being said from what I’ve tried, I don’t seem to be a huge fan of Heaven Hill stuff, especially McKenna 10 and EC Toasted. Haven’t gotten to try an ECBP yet which could change that opinion, but I wouldn’t buy one before trying it somewhere. Cheers 🥃

1920, so disappointed in that one after the hype. Haven’t tried the 1910 yet, but hard to justify the cost after being utterly disappointed in its “big brother”.

They say baby Stagg yet to me it tastes like straight bread. And Stagg is my favorite so people are just wrong. Benchmark is average at best.

Going full scorched Earth with some of these picks! lol Just goes to show, not everyone has the same palate, and there is generally not an objective good or bad when it comes to taste. For myself, I have not really been too disappointed by anything I have tried yet, I can find something to like about most things, EXCEPT for what I have tried from various local distilleries (in central/western/southern NY state). They all share the same young, grassy/hay note that I don't really care for, which is too bad, because I would love to be able to help support them. Cheers!

I bought Ancient Age by accident once and thought it tasted about as bottom shelf as possible. I didn’t realize it had a good standing in the bourbon community. That actually surprises me. I like 1920! The cherry notes was pleasant for me. What do you think is better for the price and proof? Rare Breed? Any others come to mind? Blasphemy!!! I love Old Forester 100. It is definitely my profile. I think it is very rich and nice especially for the price. I recently found a store that sells it in 1.75 bottles! I’ll try to drink as much as I can so there’s less for you 2 to worry about 😁 Wild Turkey 101 is just way too spicy for me. I’ve tried but can’t enjoy it. I’m a huge Evan Williams fan but their bottled in bond is so dry to me with no finish at all. I keep trying it hoping to taste what everyone else does. Also when I first got into whiskies I was shocked at how disgusting Jack Daniels is. The taste and mouthfeel even when mixed was undrinkable. Cheers to doing what you enjoy 🥃
