It’s crazy how Vince didn’t want Punk as champion but later on he made Punk champion for 434 days. Punk must’ve grown on Vince like crazy.

Bray suffered because he got himself over on his own. From NXT to the main roster. And even when they buried him, he reinvented himself and got over again. We all know Vince hates when wrestlers get over without the help of creative.

Chris Benoit was a believable champ, yet he wasn't charismatic and he's small but the dude was so intense and aggressive in the ring and fans remembered him as how he wrestle in the ring. He was also best than Daniel Bryan, best in in-ring psychology. Loved the wrestler, not the person behind.

It was so messed up that Vince pulled the trigger of taking away the championship belts from these 10 superstars, especially Kofi Kingston, CM Punk, Christian, Rob Van Dam & Rey Mysterio. Those are incredible champions and awesome badasses in WWE, they deserve better than that. Kofi winning Wrestlemania against Daniel, CM Punk's longest reign as champion, Rey Mysterio's reign as champion by overcoming the odds are still my favorite moments. I hope they'll be champions again in the future.

Christian is easily one of the most underrated wrestlers in the last 20-25 years. I'm not saying he should of been the champ multiple times but he should of been in the running more.

RVD, one of the best wrestlers of all-time and the best ECW wrestler, in my opinion should have won the WWE title at least 4-5 times.

Wow! I expected Daniel Bryan to be on the list. After all, the reason Bryan was even put in the title match at Wrestlemania XXX in 2014 was because of heavy fan demand and the fact that the Royal Rumble before it was hated universally due to Bryan not even competing in the Rumble. If the main event at Wrestlemania had remained Orton vs Batista, fans either would have booed both men heavily or leave before the match even started.

Vince was slowly killing his own company basically, he had so many dumb decisions and pushed the wrong people. Thank God with all of these allegations that are more then likely true happened and WWE is finally in good hands with Triple H at the helm

Vince used up the last of his gas during Ruthless Aggression. Since then hes just been spinning his wheels, still fawning over his big men and burying great talent. Not just the guys on this list but many others. Hopefully Trips can right the ship. A wholesale cleansing of the entire creative staff would be a good start.

I loved Mysterio from his time in WCW and his WWE run up to the point, but as a fan it was hard to take his world title run seriously when it was so obvious why it happened and, of course, that it was going to happen. Rey would have eventually reached the main event, but they forced it. It probably sold a lot of t-shirts and masks.

Ziggler never getting a major push is one of the weirdest things to me because they literally copy and pasted so many elements from Shawn Michaels, Brett hart and billy gun to his visual aesthetic and style

I thought Jeff Hardy would be on the list because about his past and how they always had him lose the title at the next PPV all three times that he became champion.

1:46 there are two issues about why Jack Swagger flopped that hard: 1- Inexistent charisma. 2- I don't really think that Vince wanted him to win the briefcase in the first plce.

I was never a fan of Swagger, but the others, completely agree. Why I agree was if given a chance they could have had great reigns, great stories, and they were different champions people could get behind. I hope HHH is not going to be as stubborn as Vince or have the same tunnel vision and actually give talent a chance to shine.

For the most part I don't think this really is "secretly didn't want as world champion" but more a case of: 10 Examples of World Championship Runs That Show Secretly Vince McMahon Didn't Know What He Was Doing In the 1980s and 1990s WWF was pretty much "here is a small group of stars, here is a group of others... stars beat up others... repeat" - it really just epitomizes the whole Hulk Hogan reign and why it went on for so long until the fans were pretty much so sick or Hogan Then without Hogan and the other big names from the 80s the WWF pretty much went in to some of its darkest days in the mid 1990s. The "Attitude Era" was obviously big, packed them in to the arenas and sold a ton of merch... but realistically if you look at it from "the big picture" and consider who was running the show (not just Vince, but his cronies behind the scenes) and using sex to help sell the product (I know people cringe today at the thoughts of "The Bra and Panties Match" or "An Evening Gown Match" but back in the day that got a lot of eyes on the product) it really more seems like it wasn't some brilliant long term planning and booking that birthed the Attitude Era, but more that maybe it was just a big lucky fluke. After that WWE kind of went on autopilot where the booking really wasn't anything remarkable but they were able to forge a few stars who could work with what they were given, there were a few good stories, lots of just "OK" or above average, but plenty of stinkers too. Like having Kofi Kingston on this list: Was Kofi's title run really that bad? First thought: Yes, it was a bad run.... But the second thought: Compared to the current Roman Reigns title run then yes, Kofi's title reign was crap... but then you compare Kofi's run with the belt to anybody else who had the title from 2015 up until the day before Roman won it and you might say Drew and Brock had good runs (though Drew had it during Covid and Brock was rarely ever around). That brings the final thought: No, Kofi's run with the title wasn't bad... it was pretty much average and par for the course with how WWE has been booking everybody for the last 7-8 years.

I stopped watching somewhere between Eddie and Benoit’s deaths because it got too predictable at the time, and Mysterio wasn’t being taken seriously by WWE. However, lately after Dark Side of the Ring I’ve been watching these videos and old matches on KZfaq for nostalgia vibes. I think Kofi Kingston is so very talented, and it was so disrespectful the way he was squashed by Lesnar. That could’ve been a great match. If Kofi got pushed again, I might start watching again even though it’s been years.

The only ones Vince really wanted as champions were Hogan, Savage, Warrior, Undertaker, Yokozuna, Diesel, Austin, Rock, Triple H, Lesnar, Orton, Cena, Batista, Edge, and Reigns. Everyone else that were champions Vince had to be persuaded or some grew on him.

The Christian Randy Orton fued was amazing though. Both Christian and Randy talk about that summer very fondly.

Well truth is some of these were not champion material. Vince probably knew the yes chant would get old, RVD isn’t WC material...not much charisma or mic skills and not big. RVD makes a good tag team champ or hardcore champ. CM punk is a magnet to chaos and not in a good way. CM punk is one those people who will eventually turn on you or all the sudden not be happy and start crying on social media instead of face to face behind the curtain. I don’t think Vince didn’t want Jericho not to be champ....took a lot of confidence to put the first ever undisputed title on Jericho.
