This was my first entry into the series and it tbh after making it through the intro and being in the city to roam and take quests i ended up becoming overwhelmed and when i attempted the side quests the monsters i had to battle always kicked my ass and i didn’t understand anything about the game especially combat. I thought combat would be basic like light attack heavy attack hold LB for specials etc etc sort of like Witcher & God of War. But the combat here is very complex tbh and it takes getting used to as i didnt like the whole auto attack and having to press buttons soon as they pop up. Im more of a Zelda / GoW / Witcher / FF7R fan of combat this game is freakin huge and seems like there is alot to do and it feels overwhelming sometimes. No matter what i do i cant find a helpful enough guide to understand the game. So sadly i got rid of it as i couldnt get into it. BUT!! for some reason i am absolutely craving a JRPG or any RPG thats not ES or Witcher as they are extremely boring to me tbh ( Not bad games ive just sunk countless hours into all the games especially those that release on everything as i am the guy that buys them on everything haha) Anyways my hunger for a RPG / JRPG has me looking at Xenoblade Chronicles DE again as well as eyeballing Bravely Default which is out next month. Im also contemplating Trials of Mana ( Demo was alot of fun) Octopath Traveler & any Final Fantasy game i have yet to play on my switch. (Holding out on FF though as i hear all of them are going to be hitting Xbox Gamepass pretty soon and its basically free as i have years of Ultimate piled up) Question what can i do if i need more info on Xenoblade Chronicles? Im really considering the game but given the bad experience i had the first time around it has me gunshy on pulling the trigger.

i'm level 60 right now, just following the main story line (dotted line on map showing where i need to go), i realized i missed so many side quests and many areas are still not explored (un-revealed on map). have not developed any significant affinity between any characters. i don't really understand the fighting system, i'm mainly just button smashing tbh. don't understand the gems at all. but still enjoying the game! i can't believe how much content they squeezed onto this little game cartridge. can you make a guide on the fighting system, developing affinity between the characters, and the gem system?

how do I access the items I pick up in the world all that comes up is drop item.. lol

To those who will use casual mode exclusively for Lorithia: I envy your easy mode because I played this game on Wii

Wow, strongly disagree with Tip#1 and did stop the video right there. The sidequests in XC:DE are imho the worst part of the game, the sidequests in XC2 and XC3 are much better. XC:DE shines with its main story and that should be the focus for beginners. Only do sidequests if you feel underleveled and need to "grind" a bit. Also, most sidequests do NOT earn you XP, but mostly money. You can use the money to upgrade your equipment at shops/merchants. For XP it is better to do random fights with monsters.
