Also, I just have to give a huge shout out to Jamie for how much progress he's made in the last couple of years. He's gone from the guy who you knew was just going to screw up everything in a PIO challenge to the one who can either save it or clench the win in just a few years since you've started doing it and is now Chef level in a lot of ways. All the lads have come a long way but he really stands out for how much he's improved.

I'm kind of open-minded when it comes to food, but organ meat makes me sick (even if I don't know it's organ meat, so I don't think it's psychological). So I don't think I would be as eager to try a dish like the Chinese one here. There are also a few foods that I will forever refuse to try, like balut.
@DharkDemonBlade
@DharkDemonBlade 2 жыл бұрын
@@kaldo_kaldo I too refuse to eat Balut due to knowing what it is. But as for the Chongqing chili soup, it's honestly so spicy, a lot of the more gamey or organy flavors are covered up. My favorite part of it is the tripe from the stomach and the duck blood, which has a much cleaner taste and is more springy than the same dish but made with pork blood.

I know Jamie mentioned the sustainability of the blood soup and how it uses every part of the animal, but another thing actually stood out to me more: HALF of the dishes presented here today were meat-free. JAMIE of all people presented a fully vegetarian dish as his instagram pick instead of some glistening burger or steak sandwich. And that's something I simply don't think would have happened five years ago. The public perception on meat-free dishes seems to be slowly changing. Vegetarian dishes are becoming more and more accepted, and that in itself is a huge boost to food sustainability. And it's a change I'm very happy to see happen.

All the dishes looked delicious and I would be delighted to try them all. I would have picked Jamie's burrata and cherry tomatoes over the croissants even though they looked very good but I prefer savory over sweet but that's my own personal preference. I really enjoy these takeaways. It introduces me to other cultures and their food. I always learn something from these videos and for that I thank you.

What ad? None here. All our own views, we weren't paid, in fact we paid for everything because we thought the places were interesting and deserved a mention. You'll know if it is... We'll clearly display so.

@@SortedFood it wasn't a diss guys. I mean it. The promo looks great. It took some great timing (or cutting and pasting) for that smoke, fire & alarm transition. Multiple chefs kisses.

I used to live with my Venezuelan friend who regularly made arepas. This reminds me of him. Also, eating offals is not that untraditional on the British Isles, given that haggis exists in Scotland. It might be as Barry and Jamie suggested, younger people are quite sheltered.

I like the twist on the takeaway format and the focus on out of the ordinary dishes. I hope they choose to make the croissants. Barry and Jaime did well with the Swedish princess cake and the Mary Berry tennis cake. The Pass It On Live promo was genius. You can feel the impending doom. I cannot wait!

Barry's all looked better to me, I think. I'm not a fan of "junk piled on toast" as a dish in a restaurant personally, as I can do that at home. Although the arepas did look tasty

I always get blood curd when I go out for hot pot, genuinely awesome. Also really love tripe and chicken gizzards, tripe is a go to when getting Chinese food.
