Turkish guy here ! The current minimum wage in Turkey is approximately 5k TRY so these prices are actually insane for a regular blue collar worker. Needless to say Nusr-et caters mostly to the extremely rich in Turkey or mainly foreigners (since 1 USD is around 18.65 TRY at the moment), that are looking to experience the delicious food. For anyone going to Turkey please keep in mind you can get so much better quality food and experience the culture for a fraction of the price you pay here. Anyway all this to say, great job as always Sonny, I hope you enjoyed your stay in Turkey!

I agree! I like many of the locations other channels visit as well but I can't stand the theatrics and the overly-done "THIS IS AMAZING" face(s) they make with every single bite of food they take. I honestly would like to see them be more natural and honest with their responses but that's what sets Sonny apart from all those other channels. Sonny is very honest and charismatic.

But not necessary to be a food lover, obviously, cause you haven't. Respect. ❤️

@@davidharness1507 it is not nonsense. It is a show. If Sunny eats what we eat every day all the time, it will not be so interesting for us to watch. Any show must show something different than normal life once in a while. A lot of his videos show what people eat every day in different countries. That is ok, but once in a while, I will not mind him showing us something completely different from our daily meal.
@apair4002

@@Theoryofcatsndogs True. When I see the amount of meat they serve, it is not quiet expensive. Just get rid the golden flake. For small family, I don't think the cost will exceed 400usd. The amount of medium lamb rib is and beef cut is more than enough for small family. Bit expensive but not crazy expensive, the showmanship etc also adding the cost but still more fun rather than standard michelin restaurant.

The way Sonny felt the way the dry ice died down is similar to how I feel when I come off coke.

I worked for a hotel for over 12 years. Eventually I became one of the directors. The owners would take us to dinner once a year. We ate dinner at the Fountainbleau hotel in Miami Beach. Their special was the Tomahawk ribeye. The menu price was $300. The other directors dared not order it because of the high price. I went ahead and ordered it. When the orders arrived at the table. Everyone was asking who had ordered the Tomahawk steak. The plating and presentation was phenomenal. The chairman of the company came over and asked what I had ordered, and the pricing. He then turned around to the food & beverage director and asked him if he could get ahold of the same cut of meat. A month later we started selling the tomahawk steak as a dinner for two for $100. It was a hit, and people ordered it regularly. I moved on from that job, and sadly I think they stopped selling that when covid hit.

My Turkish wife and I went to Nusr-et a few years ago and we knew before hand that it's very expensive, sadly we were very disappointed with the service and the meat which was not cooked to our liking. By comparison, 2 weeks ago, in Toronto we had the best cooked steaks and salad which were cheaper than Nusr-et Istanbul prices.
