Yes it’s definitely not for the faint of heart. I was pleasantly surprised by the view at the top, it was absolutely worth the effort!

You guys are amazing to make it up all those steps with two little ones! My family hiked this trail about two years ago and we all struggled with it. We hike all the time, but something about the combination of the steep steps on this trail made it challenging.

It's absolutely a tough hike. Sarah did 90% of it on her own, which was really awesome. She's a good hiker! I don't think we could have made it otherwise.

Loved the shot of the train at 15:03 it looked like a little toy from so high up. Gotta give you guys alot of credit for making it up to the top there as a family. Some really awesome views up there. I have been looking to do some hiking on the Standing stone Trail. Would love to do a section with you if your interested. We could do a shuttle hike, put a vehicle at both ends, that way we could cover more ground. This is definitely one of PA's most interesting hikes, the fortitude and toughness of the men who "walked to work" is something that impresses me deeply.

People were a lot tougher back in the day, I have a lot of respect for the people who could work in that environment. I've been looking to hike some of the SST as well. I sent you an email with some dates, let me know if either of those work. I'm in a wedding coming up, so not many free weekends.

Great Video. Such a wonderful area to be. Love seeing the family doing so well with the climb. I can not wait to get back to site 20. Already have a trip planned there in May...just may make one in April.

We might end up back at 20 later this season. Right now I'm researching sites in Buchanan State Forest, which might be our first trip of 2023.

We scouted out Sideling Hill Division sites this past weekend. Got a trip in the summer spending 7 nights at site 20, then 7 nights at SH 26 and then 7 nights at Forbes State Forest site 5. Do not want to wish spring away...but we cannot wait. The Sideling Hill sites are right near the abandoned turnpike and the Forbes site is near Blue Hole...both with some nice hiking....can not wait.

At sideling hill, what are the benefits to 26 over 23 or 25? I was leaning towards 25.

We did not check out 23. It is an old ball field or something. To be honest, 25 and 26 are very similar. The decision was made by the wife...she just liked the "feel" of 26... I kinda thought 25 was nicer overall...but 26 did seem more level. The rock fire rings were kind of a surprise. No picnic table is not a big deal, but was so used to seeing the sites with them

Great advice on wearing orange during hunting season. I hunt in the Poconos late Nov and I'm amazed at the number of people I see who are out hiking and dog walking in the hunt areas that aren't wearing orange or at least another bright color that'll stand out.

I’m sure a lot of people just don’t think about it, especially those that don’t hunt. It’s definitely important though, there’s definitely people out there who shoot at movement.

@@mountainsintomemories Theres at least 3 national stories per hunting season of someone shooting at movement instead of identifying what's making the movement.
