How to program the garage door opener in your car in 3 easy steps

Setting up your car's garage door opener will only take a few minutes if you follow these three steps:
► Step 1: First, reset your car's controls by holding down the first and third buttons for approximately 20 seconds. You can move onto step 2 once the indicator light flashes rapidly.
► Step 2: Hold your garage's remote control three inches from rearview mirror. Hold down on both the remote and you button you want to program in your car. This should take about 5 seconds. Stop when the indicator light flashes (usually green). Test your car, by holding down the programed button for three seconds. Does it work? If yes, you're done! If not, move onto step 3.
► Step 3: Get a ladder and climb up to the actual garage door opener until. Remove the back plastic cover and find the "learn" button. Mine was red. Press the Learn Button. You now have 30 seconds to get back into your car, turn the car on, and press and hold the button you want to program on your car. The indicator light should now flash green and your car should be successfully programed.

THANK YOU! After 18 months of using the battery-operated remote and changing batteries twice, I decided to try AGAIN to link my 2013 Subaru Outback to my garage door opener. Your video was the one that finally made it work for me. Oddly, the Learn button did not work, but holding my wife's remote close to my mirror buttons DID work for me. I also appreciate your no-nonsense, clear calm voice. You are an excellent teacher. Plus, your comment about holding the button in for a full second to engage the opener was helpful.

You’re a lifesaver! Your instructions for training the device with the “learn” function worked perfectly and now my homelink recognizes my garage door opener and I don’t need the remote! Thank God for KZfaq and people like you who take the time to provide helpful tutorials.

OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! Another KZfaqr failed to mention that even tho my vehicle is new and has never been paired with anything, you need to wipe it clean by pressing the 1 and 3 button WHICH I DID... then followed the steps and IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!

This worked on my 2001 Durango. Admittedly ended up holding the button on the back to long and aside from programming the Durango... I had to reprogram both garage door openers. Lol. But in the end all of them work on the garage door. Thanks for posting this video.

Worked like a charm very easy to follow instructions I have a 2018 Toyota Camry only thing that differed from the video in my car was that the light started red then blinked green repeatedly for clearing the codes in the beginning and the same when it linked it was a solid green light but still worked like yours I didn't even have to climb a ladder to connect did it from the comfort of my car on the first attempt thanks again for sharing 😀

Sweet!!! Easy as pie!! Worked for my Honda Odyssey thank you very very much!! I changed the batteries in the remote n it took the program w the old batteries!!! So I was stuck outside!! I went in hit the learn button n we were back in in a flash!! And also reprogrammed my clicker.. so now I have a few ways to get in just in case one shits the bed again!! I will be stuck outside no more lol thanks again i appreciate it n was very easy to do!
