I'm Canadian as well and I've never heard "aboot" but I HAVE heard "aboat". Most of the stereotypical "Canadian" accent is that maritimer accent from Down East. Like the way that Newfies and Scotians say "Kyar" instead of "car". Just watch Canada's Worst Driver. The host, Andrew Younghusband (yes, that's his real name...lmao) sounds perfectly normal until he says "kyar" instead of "car". It's funny as hell to watch, not just for him, but the show in general. LOL

@@deutschbagnl - You've never watched Canada's Worst Driver or Codco have you? Just search in KZfaq for "Canada's Worst Driver" and listen to Andrew Younghusband speak. ... I mean in french it's really pronounced ''me-tis''... You shouldn't generalize the people from Quebec I for instance is a Metis who's first language is French and i don't think we should become a country. Ya we exist....

Exactly only people in Quebec pronounce it that way but the Acadians who came up with the name who also spoke French, Acadian french at that pronounced it may-tee . Sadly Acadian French is mostly only spoke in Nova Scotia where I live

Nova Scotians are referred to as "bluenosers" because of the Bluenose II, a fishing schooner that was once the fastest schooner in the world, winning many trophies. As you can guess...the Bluenose was built in Halifax, Nova Scotia. It's also found on the front of our 10-cent piece.
@Clipbrd
@Clipbrd 6 жыл бұрын
Actually it's because of the first Bluenose, built in 1921 in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. about 65 kilometers south west of Halifax.But you were close..

Fact #16: It is pronounced, “may-tee”, not “meh-tiss”. There should also be an accent on the E (Métis). The accent makes the e sound like a long “A” sound.
