ശരീരത്തിന്റെ സുഗമമായ പ്രവർത്തനത്തിനു കൊളസ്ട്രോൾ ആവശ്യമാണ്. എന്നാൽ ഇത് അമിതമാകുമ്പോഴാണ് ശ്രദ്ധിക്കേണ്ടത്. ഹൃദയപ്രശ്‌നങ്ങളുള്‍പ്പെടെ പല പ്രശ്‌നങ്ങള്‍ക്കും വഴി വയ്ക്കുന്ന ഒന്നാണ് കൊളസ്‌ട്രോള്‍. ശരീരത്തില്‍ നല്ല കൊളസ്‌ട്രോളും ചീത്ത കൊളസ്‌ട്രോളുമുണ്ട്. നല്ല കൊളസ്‌ട്രോള്‍ ഗുണങ്ങളാണ് വരുത്തുന്നത്. ഇത് എച്ച്ഡിഎല്‍ കൊളസ്‌ട്രോള്‍ എന്നാണ് അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. ചീത്ത കൊളസ്‌ട്രോള്‍ എല്‍ഡിഎല്‍ കൊളസ്‌ട്രോളാണ്. കൊളസ്‌ട്രോള്‍ അധികമാകുമ്പോള്‍ ഇത് രക്തധമനികളില്‍ അടിഞ്ഞു കൂടും. ഹൃദയത്തിലേയ്ക്കുള്ള രക്തപ്രവാഹം തടസപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്യും. ഇത് ഹാര്‍ട്ട് അറ്റാക്ക് അടക്കമുളള പല പ്രശ്‌നങ്ങളിലേക്ക് വഴി വയ്ക്കും. കൊളസ്‌ട്രോള്‍ ടെസ്റ്റിനെ കുറിച്ച് അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുക
