RJ I was 101 in the 70's then team d recruited me for a higher cause. I was taught to always respect every American citizen who talks in any way about our service until they disrespect our country and our freedoms even if they are not happy with those who have fought for and willing to die for in defense of our freedoms. We were given a pass at that point to educate

Lyrics changed well before 2012. It's it's not jump right down through the skies of blue, the correct lyrics are assault right down through the skies of blue. Also, the lyrics Do not say we are the men of the hundred first, they now say we are the soldiers of the hundred first. I wonder if he has a problem with men not being the only ones in the military? I am a US Army veteran who served in the hundred first, also the 3rd Brigade combat team rakkasans. So this is kind of a big deal, dude.

This is the song as I learned it while in the 101st Airborne Division Chorus in 1976. This is sung as written and as the words were for us then. This is the way the song was done in 1947. It is history. History must be preserved to honor those who came before. As soldiers we know what we do and who we fight with and for. Do words of an historic song need to be changed to make everyone feel good. I think not. We know the song stands for all of us, men and women. To me changing the words as they have done now would be like striking the Airbone off the patch and replacing it with Air Assault. We know we are now Air Assault. But we wear the Airborne to honor those who came before. Thank you for your service Mary G.

The original lyrics are what he's singing. I don't think he has a problem with MEN & WOMEN, this is just the original version, the one I learned as a kid at Ft. Campbell!! I served in the USAF, my sister in the USArmy. We had no problem being female. My Dad had FOUR girls. We felt loved and accepted. I have no problem with the changes of 'WE are the soldiers of the 101st", but they were JUMPERS, originally!
