Here I show you the stump bucket in action. I made this myself for $60 as a backhoe alternative to digging stumps, trenches, and post holes. Check out how it works. As good as a backhoe? Maybe not. But not bad for sixty dollars!

Thanks for making the stump bucket video so quickly. I think you convinced me that it can be a suitable alternative to a backhoe for the easier/lighter digging jobs. I have a Titan fork frame with the built-in hitch so I should be able to duplicate what you built. Just need to increase my beginner welder skills and learn to use the plasma cutter I bought recently. I think I will give it a try sometime later this year. Thanks for the inspiration.

Dash, that works great! After I get my you-know-what together and build a rear ballast set-up, and mod my carry-all frame with lower lift pins & make it quick hitch compatible, I think a stump bucket is next on the list. A low cost, effective attachment that doesn't take up a bunch of room to store. Very nice!

Reasonable results considering the low investment. The ability to cut and weld is very nice and well worth the expense of shop tools required to fabricate. Nice work.

Great job Dash...it's fun to watch you build your tractor arsenal! We just took delivery of our 3025E last Friday, and we're having a blast using the grapple to clean up around the property. I look forward to making a bucket like yours some day in the future. Keep up the great work! Tom

Great to hear from you, Tom! Congratulations on your 3025E! That is one awesome machine. I know you'll get lots of great use out if it. One day I will upgrade to a larger tractor. Id love to hear your recommendations on the 3 series!

You should try making one with a different shape... With 2 different bottom plate angles. Hard to explain without a drawing but, when you tilt the FEL a little to make trenches, you make the bucket with a section that will remain parallel to the ground, so that it won't try to always dig deeper. I am pretty sure that would work great for trenching and it will still be as useful for digging tree trunks. But great work! This kind of bucket is a nice addition for any tractor.

I think that would work well for planting most anything... And for $ 60 it's a no brainer.. I plan on making one as well. Obviously I have some welding and assembly experience so it's just a matter of the material cost.. I have a slightly smaller older JD so I'll refigure the size.. Well done..

Nice, it does what you need to do. I was at the dealer a couple days ago and they want nearly 9,000 for a backhoe for my 2038R. I can rent a mini excavator the rest of my life when I need it for less than that lol. The bucket will not replace a backhoe but for use around my property well I’m sure it will do at least 80% of my tasks

@@TheLittleGreenTractor you can purchase an off brand backhoe that will fit the 1025r that is not as expensive as the JD.

A tree that size you simply push over with the loader and then dig it out with the loader in one quick movement. For larger trees I've used a chain come along to pull large trees up stump and all. Todays as a senior I keep an old backhoe around the farm for digging and taking out trees without all the work. I've dug up trees that weighed as much as my case backhoe. At any idea the scoop is a nice idea but not sure about the strain on the bucket cylinders. Perhaps something better would have been a cutting bar that the tractor will skim the ground with cutting out small shrubs quickly.

Nice! I saw the earlier video, but is the only attachment of this using the receiver tube on the fork frame? Looks like the frame is the limit to the depth? Thanks for the video!
@judyhosey4060
@judyhosey4060 3 жыл бұрын
Bucket needs to be whole length of that frame that it's attached to in order to get the depth ypu need to accomplish your task otherwise you're defeating your purpose when you've got both sides of that frame knocking the dirt back in or stopping you from going deeper.. Other wise, a Great Idea. !

you need a small wheel or skid on each side of qt frame to keep bucket from pulling front of tractor down and keep depth of ditch even

Sorry for the skepticism but it looks like a good way to tear up something on your loader to me. I've never used one but I think you could get more done using a middle buster on the three point. Worked great on the small tree ... not so much on the trench

4:45 - I could lay pipe almost anywhere given the right opportunity. But seriously, I really like your stump bucket. I need to learn to cut and weld metal. I could buy more tools and learn a new skill. That's a WIN WIN for me! If mama asks why I want to spend a few hundred dollars for welding equipment, I'd tell her it's better than spending thousands for a backhoe! BAM! She's onboard!

@@TheLittleGreenTractor Just a thought. as i can see you have a diverter on your tractor. Wouldn't it be great if you could lower the bucket (not the frame). Put bucket on tracks and have a hydraulic cylinder to raise and lower it?
