Nice review on some of my favourites, Sandman! Just so you know, the term "long rounded" on their specification sheet comes from the German "lange verrundet" which means finished (as in tumbled, etc). For the steel, I have, in writing, that it is some sort of specially tempered 301, but I had to wrangle that information out of a source after like 10 emails being very direct about it. Not sure how it's been tempered, likely a trade secret (because trust me, I also tried to find out), but certainly as you've said (and so has Lock Noob), they flex very well for a 0.6mm lockpick. Their TOK wiper bars are some of my favourites, just like Multipick's champion style wrenches. Just awesome tension control afforded to you. I think their wiper stuff is made of some high carbon steel, not their special 301 (which makes sense). I love Lockmaster. Just wish they were cheaper down under.

Producing in Germany unfortunately comes with a big privetag 😅 We also wish we could offer tthese cheaper. The good point is if you break a pcik you don't need to buy a new handle 😉

I'll be visiting my Mother in Germany at the end of April. I think I'll have her order the jack knife for me so it will be there when I arrive. Probably pick up some padlocks while I'm there too so i can pick while on vacation!

Late in the comments, I know...but 1095 and carbon steels are absolutely not stainless. But they are tougher, stronger and less prone to chipping. Low element carbon steels are generally softer though. They will roll, rather than chip. 1095 is not considered a spring steel. 5160 is and is extremely strong and tough. But it rusts super easy. I would love to see picks made of 14C28N for stainless (heat treated to a lower end Rockwell) or carbon steel 3V powdered (also at a lower Rockwell)...just to see if they would make good picks. Tough to get them so thin, I imagine: especially 3V. But one can dream.

I think lockmaster have the same springsteel like multipick ( soft) for me ist verry simular. Sorry for my English 😆

It’s definitely not the same as multipick, multipick uses 400 series stainless steel and so does Peterson. This is definitely closer to 301 full hard or 1095.

Correct @@sandman_locksport we like to use a steel that has a little flex which allows the picks to have a much longeer lifespan usually.

it couldnt be further from peterson tools, steel is different, profiles, and size. they are closer to HPC, think HPC but upgraded.

I needed some followers for getting my green belt so I ordered that and the jack knife. It will probably be good for meetups, just to pick one or two locks. I don't feel like bringing my multipick or moki sets there with me.

The picks are waterjet cut. This prevents the steeel to become hot and alter the properties. The change of color comes from the 5+ hour tumbling process without a final polish to make the picks more affordable.
