MSI Cyborg 15 with RTX 4060 at $1099 seems tempting, but beware this little guy has some short cuts done to it that make me wary of recommending it before I even test it. Maybe this little guy will surprise me and it will still be worth buying? Who knows? I got the RTX 4050 version for $800 on sale and runs everything on High to Ultra settings. For the price can't beat it this is a steal for that price.

Quick note but DDR5 is always dual channel. So a single stick isn't a big deal with DDR5.

Wish you would have done this test with 32gb ram or 16gb ram in the system cuz its a world of difference on the performance side. Biggest issue with this laptop is dull screen colors windows auto color manager fixes it slightly but im still considering doing a screen replacement myself. than ill upgrade to a 165hz 1920x1080 100% srgb screen.

probably gonna have to wait for anything else to go on sale to a similar price since this one they cheaped out on internals a lot compared to those but they should be possible to find few months after launch or just a good last gen 3060 laptop which are on massive sales now

@@phoondanny5888 45w tdp or tgp referring to the wattage the gpu is getting, desktop graphics cards take maybe 150-450 watts of power (at least the current new ones) to give the performance they do, in laptops it's less because more wattage means more heat but there isn't room for a big cooling solution and fan setup for most laptops so their gpus tend to be low power for the portability, however gaming laptops tend to be think and heavy with copper and other thermally conductive stuff for good cooling systems so they can crank gpu wattage higher for more fps. Currently the most you'll see in laptops is 175 watts for the best 4080 and 4090 laptops, good 4060 and 4070 laptops are usually 140 or 150 watts, and 4050 are 100 or something. This laptop runs its 4060 at 45 watts, that shows it doesn't have much good cooling so can't handle much heat leading to them capping the 4060 wattage very low reducing the performance you get. Sometimes this is done for battery too which is why dgpu wattage goes very low or even off during idle and only high during games and gpu intensive programs. But in this case the cyborg 15 has a really shit cooling solution its just bad internally lol but on the very cheap it's probably fine and that makes it pretty light too but I wouldn't pay over 6 or 7 hundred usd for those internals capping the gpu at 45 watts.

U can upgrade Ram to 16 GB and play any game in ultra settings. Mine came with 16 GB itself . I am From India so not sure about us markets. Played last of us 2 with full raytracing at 50-60 fps

@@MarmotaVoando Not above 65 and 72 degrees in GPU and CPU respectively. Well below critical limits and fan(single fan) runs quietly too compared to my earlier laptop (predator helios 300).

for 800 dollars I think this is a steal, it does underperform some cheaper (700 dollar) 4050 fully powered laptops, but I think the ability for it to run much cooler and have 2gb of extra vram makes it a better choice

I have the Cyborg 15 with i7 12650H RTX4060 and 16gb ram cuz the dutch version has 16gb not 8. I'm running games easy without stutters around 100ish fps depending on the game. COD modern warfare 2 ultra with Nvidea image scaling to ultra quality and its 120/ 144 ish fps. cuz i have it on vsync to prevent screentearing.

@@mkj4452 i hope it does, this laptop should be as they sell it's military graded. But as you know the GF series are a flop and are the worse build ever. Still using the laptop for a month now and didn't had any hinge issues.

@@GizmoSlipTech yeah, ive been waiting for a review somewhere, it has a qhd screen not this bad fhd, ram is at 5200, the i7 is different also, its a 13700h and finally the wifi is Wi-Fi 6 AX201.... on paper it looks all fantastic and the price right now, instead of being 2k its 1699. Despite that, im waiting, ive seen some nice other laptop like the omen 17 with a 3080ti at 2k instead of 3k and the asus strix with amd r9 6900 and a 3080 at 2200. Hard choice.

@InanSakar yes, but you will need a way to clone the existing drive or do a fresh windows install. it only has 1 m.2 slot. it does have the contacts on the mobo for a second slot, so might be able to solder on a second connector. case has provisions for the drive already too. after my warrenty is up I might go ahead and solder a connector on the second set of contacts and see if it registers.

Turn off V-Sync. Make sure your monitor is in high refresh rate mode. You can also add steam properties command "+fps_max 300" for the max 300 fps limit, instead of 144.
