The voters chose to spend 20billion on government travel which could have been used for free and quality primary education. They now complain that education has become too expensive yet the money for building schools, paying teachers and supporting needy bright students is wasted in these travels. Poverty is a mindset

There seems to be more of politics than the economy here. During the Jubilee Admin. Kenya was denied more debts,by Chinese Govt. simply because the already indebted Kenya was heavily in debt. World over, a country must have taxes in order to avoid being debt dependent. The retired Pres. Hon. U. Kenya lamented that the Govt. was losing over 2b daily. PRETENCE !!!

The challenge the government faces is twofold, they are in a catch 22 between a rock and a hard place. For people to say you can not grow the economy on taxes, it might be true but let them give us SOLUTIONS on the debt that is choking the country. If we default that growth they talk about won't be there...
@stove7197
@stove7197 9 ай бұрын
I'm sorry but you did not detail the 2 sides of your "twofold" assessment? On the other hand, defaulting might be the only viable/realistic solution because the current strategy of taxing to grow the economy is undeniably unsustainable if not outright flawed. Defaulting is painful at the beginning but it offers a genuine hard restart/reset to the economic fundamentals that Kenyans want for prosperity. It also provides the level of pain that perhaps will finally catalyze Kenyans to demand that the culprits of the existing odious debt i.e. debt that Kenyans did not authorize the Uhuruto government to borrow since 2013, and parts of which did not even make it into the Kenyan coffers, be legally pursued, prosecuted and forced to return these stolen funds.

The problem is govt and Mps/senators not willing to make any sacrifices. The executive and national assembly travel budget is atrocious plus added to this is travel allowances. Magafuli stopped all travel by mps and govt officials only essential travel and the govt saved 400million dollars in the first financial year. That money was sued to fund free secondary education. But in Kenya our politicians are so greedy they will fight any stop to their foreign travels but will lament on how high the debt is in public rallies. How we are being taxed but in reality they are part of the problem.

No less than the government did....unless you've been living under a rock since 2022...housing levy, fertilizer subsidies, fuel stabilization levy, etc.🤔2023-24 Government Budget Statement: "This growth outlook will be reinforced by the interventions being implemented by the Government under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, including the provision of subsidized fertilizer and seeds to farmers during the planting season. Further, economic activity is expected to improve and drive aggregate demand expansion as the international commodity prices ease coupled with improved exports and resilient private sector consumption as well as ongoing public and private investment." Kenyans need to read otherwise as Jimi Wanjigi says, the mzungus were right in saying that if you want to hide anything from Africans, put it in a book🥲

The guy with a thick accent is layering and skewing figures. 25% of county expenditure by counties cannot be compared to the national government expenditure of 25% not even 1%. That is a deliberate and mischevious. 50% of 100 shillings is what? Huaat i? 50 shillings 1% of 1 million is what? 10,000/= Now where and in which universe is 50 shillings comparable or equal to 10,000/= shillings?
