Sorry to hear about Duchess, farm dogs have a tough life. Getting run over, kicked, eating something they shouldn’t, lots of added risk for sure. Hard to loose an old one but loosing a young one like that must have been really hard for you folks. It made me sad hearing about it. I will have to take mine for an extra long walk today in her honour. 😢

Your new home is looking great and I know the feeling you're having about moving in. We had an old farm home very much like the one you tore down and all the memories you must have of raising your children there. We couldn't keep as much of it as you did, but we did keep one of the beams to put over our fireplace but in the end, the building codes would not allow us to use it (fire hazard).

My Grandparents had a laundry chute! My sisters and cousins had a lot of fun dropping stuff down to the basement. We also did a lot of hollering back and forth through it, as well. I kind of hope you’ll let your kids do the same - they’ll have great memories from it and will talk about it into their 60’s and beyond! I’m sorry to hear about Duchess. She was such a joy to watch running around the farm with Dad and you. We could tell she was just as curious about your farming operations as we are. She brought a lot of smiles to us and touched all of our hearts along the way. We welcome Gracie to the show, and we can’t wait to watch her grow up and be right in the middle of everything!

Aww poor Duchess that’s so sad that he passed away but guess that’s just the life of a farm dog hope Gracie has a long life in the farm.

Eric, you do a great job knowing the feed ingredients for your cows. I cannot believe how shiny their hair is, you can especially see it on blacker cows, they shine! They look so heathy. I feel sorry for cows that have to leave your farm.😢

Sorry for your loss. We had a 22 year old Chihuahua that had terminal heart and lung problems but he was the happiest little dog. Hard to lose them at any age. 😢. House looks good. We have an old barn beam we made into a floating mantel like yours. Keep up the good work.

Hi Eric. New house is looking great. Just a suggestion. If you have compressed air anywhere near your calf feed storage, you could mount a couple vibratory devices on the tapered section and that would drive the feed down very nicely. We used to call them "thumpers" back when I used them on projects. Thanks for all the time you put in making these videos.

just incase you got one lying around somewhere, we use a wheelbarrow to bring the calf feed to each calf. much quicker than having to haul around the 5 gallon buckets. trim works looks great 👍 and im sorry to hear about dutchess, she was a spry little pup.

I’m sorry that you lost your Jack Russell Duchess. I lost my little Jack Russell a litter over 2 years ago. He was the best dog I ever had and we had 16+ wonderful years together. I couldn’t bring myself to get another Jack Russell right away after I lost him but I came across a miniature Australian Shepherd that was in need of a good home a couple of months later.

Hi Eric. Thanks again for sharing another video. house looking real good now hey? Regarding Calf feed bin you made. suggestion which might help be a little less back-breaking when it gets low... make a Gate/shutter at the bottom. as this is long i will do in two comments. cut a square hole in one of the sides of the box. make the cut so you have one entire piece removed and keep the cut out bit. make 2 x metal pieces. like you did with the corner brackets, but with an extra bend. 2 bends per piece. example put flat plate to box as to bolt in on. . first bend 90 degrees should be away from the box, and the second 90 degree bend should be parallel to the box side. so a z-shape but only straight lines. - more...

If you put a couple of 2'x2's on the underside of the calf feed bin at the inside dimensions of the bin, then the lid would index to it and it wouldn't need to be aligned to cover any gaps

Please do a full house tour when it's all done. Would be really nice to see the house fully when it's all done. Congrats on your new home :)

Since I watched your last one I have been meaning to tell you that on that Polydome bin the lid is supposed to be held down by a rope just like the rope that opens it. There is a hole to put the rope in the angle iron that goes across the top of the lid. The rope will need to be long enough to reach from the ground when the lid is open, so that you do not need to climb the ladder to shut the lid. We just tie the rope to one of the angle iron braces to keep the lids down, so that the wind does not blow them open. We have several of those bins, and really like them. I did have to put some of that caulking one all of those bolts that bolt the halves together in order to keep them from leaking rain into the bin.

It’s very difficult to lose a pet, even for a farmer. I hope it’s not been too painful…. God bless your family.

you should screw 4 blocks to the underside of the calf feed box lid and give it a lip to sit square. just a thought

It’s good to have relatives that know carpentry cause they’ll treat u right.

Seeing you move that box with calf feed and having to maneuver it into the corner, if you build a hatch on into the outside wall you might be able to grab it and put it back without having to drive and maneuver the skidsteer into the barn every time

laundry chutes are great. We've had one for 30 years. The kids loved putting their dirty clothing down. Then learned not wet clothing.
