Mini Crawlers are a ton of fun, but is it possible to build a DIY course out of junk you have laying around? Yup! On this episode I show you how. My indoor RC crawler course is made from old recycled material and plaster cloth. My plaster cloth mountains are a perfect obstacle for my SCX24 mini crawlers. If i can build one, you can build one.

Oh I so want to make one. My 82 year old father lives with me and I let him drive my micro rigs and it puts a smile on his face every time the problem is the track is out back and it's to hard and dangerous for him to walk all the way out back so I'm going to build this for him in the garage I think that will be perfect. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge it's amazing.

After watching this me and my son started our course build. We don’t have a lot of room so we built ours in 1’x2’ and 2’x2’ modules and built them in a way that we can rearrange them into a new course. A few things I found to help is a hot glue gun to hold stuff in place and painting it in mod podge before spray painting it makes it stand up to abuse a little better. Great build brother and thanks for the inspiration!!!

Nice to see the crawler table back in action. The videos you did last year is what inspired me to start building one this winter. Made the table so far (roughly 5 x 11ft) and some wooden modular frames to serve as base for the mountains. Then plan to mold the terrain out of chicken wire and use expanding foam to add details. Atm I'm working on a suspension bridge to install, but it's trickier than I thought. Lot of trail and error in getting the angle just right, so heavier vehicles don't flip over.

AWESOME JOB 👍👍 I have built one in the past for my SCX24, and I used similar techniques. My new one is going to be built in 4 pieces, and will be able to be put under the bed. Will be able to be taken out, positioned in different places/order, and then slid back under a bed. That way it won't take up space (for people with limited area)...

sweet course and layout! I am building my own now on a 3'x4' plywood sheet. taking it week by week so I don't rush it and can use it and see what works and doesn't work. for extra grip I sprinkled on some sand from Hobby Lobby and use Loctite spray adhesive to hold it in place and it works wonders.

The only soft spots are in places where I pulled the plaster tape too tight. The table itself if solid, and the soft spots don’t even really move, even with the heaviest of 24th scale trucks.

@@10thScaleGarage Yeah building materials are crazy marked up now. Ordered online in Canada they would be roughly that much. $30-40 in plaster cloth, $16 spray paints. $10-20 expanded foam. Easily $60 CDN for one obstacle. Paper mache and sanded grout over top would probably be the cheapest. That would cut out the expanding foam and plaster cloth. Outdoor courses can be completely free and easily changed. I prefer them when the weather is agreeable. Winter is coming....
