For those who claim that he was skipping leg day, Alan Crossley had won the Britain's strongest man competition in '84. You simply cannot be a top strongman and skip leg day. He was a real beast with functional power in all his body. He still punches like Deontay Wilder though :)

I’ve not watched this since it was first put on TV back in 89, the scenes I’ve always remembered is the punch bag and diving into the lake but couldn’t remember who it was. Tough a straight up man, old school doorman showered no fear. I especially liked the training, I use lumps of metal on a old bar and use them to bench press and overhead press in my garden plus pick up heavy sacks and run with them,something very therapeutic about training outside (I don’t have a lake to swim in though). Many thanks for putting this up.👍💪

Love this. I started lifting in the 70s when I was a teen. I trained in an old school powerlifting gym in an old shack with homemade kit and men who looked like actual monsters. It was a scary place and you'd get a punch or a kick if you failed a weight but it made you tough and pushed your limits. I still lift now at 60 in a gym in my back garden after winning many titles in strength events and powerlifting. Same routine now as it was when I was 16. Go heavy or go home. Still benching 200kg squatting 300kg and deadlifting 300kg albeit with wraps cause of arthiritis. Dont believe me then drop me a line and come and have a session.

Hes a proper mans man no bull shit like todays wanna be hard men no showing off posing in front of mirrors at the gym how many young blokes nowadays would train outside in the cold then take there clothes of and jump into a freezing cold river theyd start crying at the thought of it . This bloke is the real deal if you got hit by him it would be like getting hit by a freight train. As mick said to Rocky Balboa about clubber lang he will knock you into tomorrow Rock.

@Camberwell865 жыл бұрын
I thought that too but bear in mind that boxing's worth next to nothing in a street fight where you can grab hold of the cunt. Send Joe Calzaghe to have a fight with him and he'll just get bearhugged to death
@wexfordmma65 жыл бұрын
ye think ;;;;i would say a lot of people thought that ok not prity but even if you catch this guy i would think he could take a good punch and keep at ye and a little head butt there too !

Not one of the kids I've seen in the gym recently could manage that walk outside in the cold. Geezer was made out of girders.

I trained a few times with Al back in the late 70's down at the Heath and I can testify that his idea of performance enhancing aids was a pint or two of Guinness. We also went together [twice] to the US but that's another story
