I think the best thing about this list is the variety. You got long term stories ending and you have Takeshita being the best emergency parachute in wrestling. You have technical masterclasses and you have brutal battles. You have the most pro wrestling vs. The most sports Entertaining. We as wrestling fans are in a great time right now.

I was at Dynasty and even though the crowd was pumped for most of the show, you could just feel the air change when Danielson and Ospreay made their entrances. You just knew you were about to see a certified classic

Seems like Bryan vs Ospreay has just as much right to be number one as any match on this list. Roman vs Cody had all the bells and whistles, which made classic moments. Bryan and Os just had themselves and they delivered a classic in its own right. One is pure wrestling the other is pure sports entertainment.

It was an overbooked mess that between the ropes was nothing special. The overbooking actually benefited the match and having half the WWE goats come out to pop the crowd and culminating Cody’s stir was awesome but the match itself?? Not even close

@BirdGang6 The match was great, i don’t know what you’re talking about. The in-ring work far surpassed their previous match, even with both men having had a 45 minute tag match the previous night. The overbooking was not a mess, it was honestly very simple and easy to follow, even if there wasn’t a lot of it. The crowd was not bored. It was freezing cold, windy and in an outdoor stadium. And even then the crowd was incredibly loud for this match. Maybe the other ones not so much. All the legends coming out made sense. The Undertaker was somewhat random but there was a good reason (Austin wasn’t able to come), and you can easily headcanon that he came out to avenge his Mania 33 loss. There really isn’t anything to strongly dislike about this match, unless you’re a roman fan who somehow wasn’t happy with his 4 something years as champion

Personal opinion Cody vs Roman part two should've been the nunber match on this list. That was just a whole other level of storytelling and awesomeness. And an honourable mention goes to the Mania XL Night One Main Event. The Rock's comeback deserves a mention even a spot on this list

Ospreay v Danielson had my jaw on the floor, and that is very hard to get me to do considering the amount of wrestling i’ve consumed in my life. What i love most is that it’s not just elevated because it’s an Ospreay match it’s elevated because it’s a Danielson match, which means 2 behemoths collided and made magic

As just a straight up wrestling match I actually prefer the Ospreay vs Takeshita match. It just blew me away at every turn. I"ll never forget that oscutter into the thunder bomb counter. the danielson vs ospreay match, did have that incredible aura though.

I was at Revolution, and I can say with absolute certainty that Ospreay vs. Takeshita is the greatest match I've ever seen in person. Also Sting & Darby vs. The Bucks is a moment I'll remember on my death bed.

For me, the Top 2 is practically tied as #1 depending on the preference honestly. Danielson/Ospreay for the bell-to-bell graps whereas Roman/Cody II for the layered storytelling and well-executed presentation. Can definitely see these two matches remain as the Top 2 come the Year-End Best Matches list.

#1 and 2 are really the polar opposites of the good wrestleing spectrum, 1 is a show, dont tell perfect wrestleing match you can enjoy in a vacuum. The other is this big crazy showstopper that has hours of required reading to make sence of all the moving parts but pays it all off in the most spectacular fashion.

I was meant to go to RevPro high stakes with my wife but most of the trains around London were cancelled and we weren't sure we'd be able to get home in the evening (we have a cat to feed). We were absolutely devastated and even more so when we found out that Oku v Ospreay was an absolute screamer lol

I was at Rev Pro High Stakes. We all knew Oku v Ospreay would be Will’s last match before joining AEW. We all knew Michael would be going over clean, because as alluded to in the video, that’s what you do in The Business. We all knew it was going to be a banger. What we didn’t know was just how much of an all-timer it was going to be. The torch was passed, blazing hotter than the sun, while the crowd chanted at Tony Khan (who was at the show) that ‘he signed the wrong guy’. Will is inhumanly good, true, but don’t be surprised to see Oku in AEW in a year or so; that lad is pure talent.

So #2 is perhaps the best WM main event of all time, but it's only #2 behind Will Osprey's best of 5 matches in 2024 so far? Ok. It is your list so you can do what you want. And I'm sure it's not COOL in wrestling to put the obviously best match that so happens to be from WWE on top in lieu of a more obscure indy-rific one. Sometimes, however, the obvious answer is the correct answer. It's ok to give the correct answer sometimes.

I wish more people would understand that sometimes the best story is just the simple one, and that "who's the best wrestler" is sometimes the best story you can tell. Great list and it feels like the right 11 matches. The only thing I've not seen off it is Oku vs Will but I'll make a point to see it at some point in the near future.

I am so shocked that there has been no love for Swerve-Hangman 3 on Dynamite. A really really great match where the result was very much in doubt, was a crescendo to 2 main eventers character arcs, probably the best draw of the century, and, oh yeah, a double turn pulled off perfectly. Hangman came in to cheers, and left the most hated man in the company.

Roman vs Cody is the best wrestling story in a very long time and their Mania 40 war is the greatest wrestling spectacle, especially of the year without a doubt. And in terms of the best in-ring action keeping you on the edge of your seat that definitely goes to Ospreay vs Danielson. Both matches deserving the top of the list.

Excellent list overall. I noticed in the comments that a lot of people don't like Will Osprey and it's fine to have opinion, but Will Osprey is one of if not the absolute best wrestler right now and he deserves to be on this list several times imho.

At the end of the day, if you go for mostly story you'll go cody vs roman, but if you go for best wrestling match, Ospreay and Danielson top it

Tbh, I never liked will ospreay much. Not that I don’t like his in ring work, he’s a great wrestler. I think that as a real person he seems to carry himself way too cocky. That one promo he cut where he thought Triple H was talking to him just made me think “does this guy really think everyone is talking about him?”

Idk I think that mania match tops the list just because of the story and emotions, idk if you were able to watch that match and not feel something …. Plus all the pops 😂
