Are you a guitarist, or any other kind of musician who's NOT a percussionist? I think it's always an excellent idea to become good on at least one percussion instrument, (even a small one) as this will pay off tenfold in your sense of rhythm and in other aspects too.

You can replace the goatskin of your drum there are tutorials here on youtube and the drum skins are very reasonable price they sell them on amazon ebay or etsy

Still, if you don’t really know how to do it, I’d suggest taking it to someone who does. It’s a lot harder than it looks.
