You sure lucked out on this!

I bought an Elvin Jones lot (of 4) for $50.51 (including shipping) and all are in like-new condition. I was looking for Poly-Currents so the other three were just a bonus really - I would have bought them eventually. I find buying small lots is a great way to get one or two you want and the rest you can sell or trade.

I have to admit that I get a little giddy when I see a seller make an obvious grading or version mistake. Great content. I’m a new follower and its so nice to see somebody around my age talking jazz vinyl so eloquently.

Re: Listing for Miles "Walkin", it looks like the seller used Ebay pre-filled form to do his listing. Often inexperienced seller will do that across the board and not realize the error,as the history reflected is not true to the actual item THEY have. Again,the little bit of time it takes to research a sellers history can pay off in big dividends-in what you buy or DONT buy,as well. Keep swingin'

Have given up on Ebay! If you are lucky and find something of interest, the shipping prices are so high that it is impossible to defend the purchase. In addition, 25% VAT is added on top of the product and shipping price. Living in Norway so perhaps not as big a problem elsewhere in the world?

great video! I really appreciate your approach to collecting, lot of not-so-subtle elitism out there, particularly in jazz collecting, so it's great to hear your alternative perspective

I haven't had much luck with jazz vinyl of eBay lately but I'm not looking that hard to be honest. I have, however, been able to find some first edition books for good prices and a couple oddball CD's that were unavailable for US sellers on Discogs. Thanks for taking the time to give us good tips!

I find eBay scores are pretty hard these days. I’ve been a member since 1998 though and have definitely had some scores there over the years..my favorites including a great first press copy of “saxophone colossus” with pristine vinyl for $150 and two NM mono original Ike Quebec blue notes (“blue and sentimental” & “it might as well be spring”) for $35 each. They’re still out there but I guess with jazz vinyl being definitely more popular in the last 5-10 years there are more lookers/competition!

I’m a big believer that deals can still be found! Sometimes just takes some patience but also just have to be willing to take a chance from time to time like you’re saying. Have definitely still been able to score some good stuff off of eBay just by constantly looking. Even recently won a Carolina Soul auction for under median value on something. Found that it was severely undergraded which I was ecstatic about. Great video and topic! Cheers!

Nice finds, there’s def luck to be had on the bay & Discogs once in a while… price creep is crazy, I remember buying a VG+ pharaoh sanders karma 1st press in 2013 for $10 at a record show, that was a good price but it didn’t really go for much more than like $25 back then

Great tips, but I take exception with "frankensteining" the best vinyl with the best cover, unless the copies are the exact same pressing, I suppose.

Do you recommend 'buy it now' over ebay auction? I noticed with several bidders often the prices can be inflated. Whats your opinion on this issue if you want to even call it a issue.

Ive encountered that terrible packing job once as well, some people must be real lazy I guess.

Sellers on Discogs ( though not certainly 100% of the time) for me is much more reliable than eBay. You made some really great points--love your channel. Thanks Jack

I bought from that guy who sold you the Ella/Louis and Stan Getz records. That is one delusional grader, haha. Everything he sells is mint minus!
