I don't think there is anything wrong with having a lot of craziness in a story, especially if you're creating a book that's very action focused and has a lot of high intensity scenes. However, if you do wish to make that craziness a bit subtle, I would suggest focusing more on the characters and especially their backstories and the reason why they are doing things in the story. A fast paced car chase scene can be slowed down a little if you include some backstory before it about the characters involved. I think that is what made MCU stories more grounded, it was because those intense scenes were written with a purpose in mind and were very character driven.

I'm glad you liked this idea. 😊 I think there are a few directions this idea could go next. 1- If you wished to include Japanese mythology, the cat could be a yokai, and the girl may need to assist with an imbalance that is occuring between the yokai world and the human world. 2- The cat could be someone similar to her, also born with powers. They may need to find other people with unique powers, in order to save the world. 3- If you wish to take it in a fantasy direction, the cat person may have been chased by monsters, and that was why they were injured. They may believe that the girl is the only one who can stop these monsters. These are some directions the story could go next. I think it really depends on what kind of story you want to write and the genre you want to focus on!
