Nice. I've only got 7. Please try out Psyber War trilogy (star wars-star trek-law & Order parody) and Shutdown Republic (Texas courtroom). Both are done in light novel style with attempts at drawing (I'm not very good at that). 😂 I try to do comedies.

If I plan on making a light novel, it would definitely be first person. Honestly, I always wanted to start writing a light novel for a while just to see how things go from there.

Thanks for your clear and helpful guide on the format for light novels!...now I'll have to re-edit my entire novel manuscript in order to fit the light novel style as I intended originally.

Girl! This is what I was looking for to estructure better my LN, hope there are more videos like this: in my case i'm doing a shojo-like supernatural fantasy novel 🥹 inspired in DnD too, I think my trouble it's the world background and how to introduce maybe the context of the world in the 1st chapter, so the reader can understand why there are adventurers guild, why adventurers exist, why is magic something everyones knows about {there's mages, sorceress, wizards, and some subclasses} and why does supernatural elements come very natural in the world itself.... I mean, me as an author I know this things, but I haven't find a way to introduce it somehow 😛

im trying to write my own light novel and ive never actually even written a story ever since im just 15 so i was looked for how dialogue worked if i should describe more if i should just not describe much and leave it to how the reader takes it ultimately i found this video helpful on so many levels.

Thank you! I am writing my first novel and I am just starting to understand the nuances of writing prose and in a way that is easy and interesting to read. I have chosen the 3rd person omniscient narrator because my protagonist is over 1000 years old and there is a lot of what happened during that time that is part of the world I am building, I may be abusing of flashbacks and remember whens but I'm still in my first draft so a lot of things can change. bakemono monogatari is one of my favorites because of the way the characters break the third wall and start talking about the eventual anime adaptation lol.

Working on a Doctor Who fanfiction at the moment, however after that is complete, will be working on an original light novel, that deals with Samurai vs. Demons. :)

What do you think about more of a script-like format? Is that something you’ve seen in light novels? I don’t think it would work for most light novels, but I was considering writing something more casual and I felt a script-like format would make it less disorienting since the dialog would often jump between multiple characters and you also get multiple characters’ thoughts. So, imagine maybe two characters playing chess and you’re jumping back and forth between not only their conversation but also their thoughts on the game as they try to outplay one another. I felt like they might be disorienting in a regular format.

What are your thoughts on freeing up space and using columns for each page since the dialog and descriptors appear to be shorter in the light novel versions? This way, the book can have less pages since the right side of the paper 📃 isn't filled without columns.

I haven't seen it done like this before, but I think you could try it! It's important to try different techniques and find a style that suits your light novel the best. 😊

Is it possible to change the pov character if I write in first person? If I change perspective is it possible to change from 1st person to 3rd and then back to first?
@lionheartpublishing5653
@lionheartpublishing5653 2 ай бұрын
I think I used this writing style in parts of my Psyber War trilogy. The chief of staff to the United Galaxy Secretary-general's POV is used as well as President Ferbe of the United Planets of Daedron's POV. It'd been a while, so please don't quote me. 😊 Ps: apologies. My friend was using my phone.

Thank you for your videos. One correction, if I may. G is always hard in Japanese. Hitagi is not pronounced as hitaji, unless it's an Italian name 😂

@midnightXcross
@midnightXcross 3 ай бұрын
Yes, you can choose first or third person, whichever you would prefer for your light novel. Also, A6 is standard page size for light novels in Japan, but once they are in English, they do vary in page size. 😊
