What’s up with those titan skeletons in Cailid and the mountaintops of the giants? What’s up with the aqueducts and related infrastructure that the Lands Between was seemingly built on and around? In the Erdtree Sanctuary there is a dude in a chair. Who dat? But also, on the ceiling in that room, in front of the doorway that leads to Marika’s weird bedroom, there a carving of a dude tooting his own horn. Why?

12: What was original purpose of the divine towers? 13: What happened that caused the divine towers to become half-buried in molten rock? 14: Where are the tarnished summoned from? That opening scene where tarnished corpses fade away during incense rituals hints at some faction we either don't know about or have only been hinted at. 15: How does the Helphen connect with anything else we know about in the game? 16: Is Melina actually the Gloam-Eyed Queen, and where does she (or they) fit into the timeline? 17: Who killed Iji with black flame? It is not the same red-black death flame used by the Black Knives. 18: What was the Sun Realm and Seat of the Sun? How is it connected to those who live in death? 19: What's Torrent's deal and why are both Melina and Ranni familiar with him? 20: Who were the titans embedded in the mountains and Caelid? 21: Where did Ranni's secret mentor, the Snow Witch, come from? 22: How were the Eternal Cities banished deep underground? Ok I gotta stop or else I'll be here all day 😅

What and who is Radagon. I highly doubt he is just Marika, if he is, why does he reforge the elden ring when marika shattered it? What makes an empyrean. Melenia's rune gives an explenation, but ranni is also one. And she is Rennalas daughter. Why does Rennala live so long. She was alive before the Fire giant massacre, which happened ages before the shattering, which happened before the game takes place, yet she seems to never have aged. It makes sense for the demigods and gods, yet Rennala seems to be neither.

@@rikley8153 Miyazaki has given more insight into the Empyrean. An empyrean is someone who’s existence is warped, they express their traits through different aspects. It’s a physical trait but does not manifest the same for each empyrean. Marika and Radagon are two aspects of the same entity. Malenia’s empyrean representation is Milicent and her sisters. Ranni’s two face state is, it seems, a choice she made to remind people that she was born empyrean and that she discarded that flesh. We assume Miquella’s expression is St. Trina.

Godfrey was Hoarah Loux first. Marika chose him for being badass and then gave him Serosh to tame his bloodthirsty ways. Only then was he titled Elden Lord, and named Godfrey.

Also, for Mystery 10; Alternatively the mausoleums could be holding stand-ins for Godwyn. 'O Marika, Queen Eternal. He is your unwanted child.' Considering Marika cast out Godfrey after his usefulness(fighting the fire giants)was up, she probably didn't hold Godwyn in high regard. It falls in line with the theory that Marika assisted Ranni in some way to complete the Night of Black Knives. I'm not convinced there's room in the timeline for her to have several more Demigod children that would also become soulless(which has to occur under very specific circumstances(a body dying at the same time as the soul)).

Then she removed the rune of death to make sure that her loyal demigods will stay everlasting

About the headless Demigod children. -the head is important in ER lore, we have to specifically put Marika's head back on her body when we complete the game, or Ranni offers it up to the Dark Moon. The eyes in the head reflect runes/alignments (godfrey's eyes becoming dim, blood eyes, dragon eyes) I've always thought that the headless state of them is very important, we can see that people can commandeer bodies in the lands between (Sellen can take over bodies) but more threateningly Shabriri when they take over Yura's corpse-just imagine the mayhem that could be caused if an outer god or one of their servants possessed the body of a Demi God. We see in game that several children of Marika align themselves with influence of outer gods, but it's not out right possession. Furthermore, the walking mausoleums, why are they walking, why are they keeping the corpses from resting in the ground or coming in contact with the ground. I think this has to do with Death Root and how it gives license to Those Who Live in Death. We see death Root...take root in static locations, but not in the mausoleums. There are little barnacle like skulls attached to the feet we don't see anywhere else in game but no evidence of death root like we can all over in game, even Farum Azula which is physically detached from the Lands Between but this tells us that Farum Azula was once part of the Lands Between and lifted only after Godwyn's death to allow the spread. Also the bells that are attached. We see music or musicality tied to summoning spirits all through the game. Ranni's bell to summon spirit ashes, how the commanders yell to summon spirits of soldiers, wraith calling bells, and the bells on the mausoleums to keep the mausoleum soldiers protecting their wards. What I wanna know is what was done with the missing heads. Sacrificial axe-"Hatchet used in ancient sacrificial rite. A Deathbird is depicted as a malevolent deity. The power of the rite yet lingers. A small amount of FP is restored upon slaying a foe." so were their heads offered as sacrifice like we see the Fire Giant do with his own leg?
@Solibrae
@Solibrae 2 ай бұрын
I think the headless Demigods were the others killed during the Night of Black Knives. Perhaps Ranni carving half the Rune of Death into her flesh didn't just affect Godwyn's murder, but all the rest of them too. When Marika saw what was starting to happen to Godwyn's body down in Deeproot Depths, she ordered that all the other slain Demigods be placed in the Walking Mausoleums so that they would never be able to spread Deathroot around. Although that doesn't explain why they're all missing their heads! I saw another person's theory that all the skulls on the Walking Mausoleum's legs are from the various headless spirit soldiers who guard some of them. Your theory about that is good too, but it's also possible that Deathroot came to Farum Azula by way of Maliketh, who tries to eat it to stop it from spreading. Ironically his efforts may have given it access to another place entirely!

would like to add to specifically the head/eyes theme: fromsoft always handled eyes as a way to connect to voids/abyss (firekeepers and their ability to gather a lot of dark soul inside them without going crazy basically; being touched by the dark without falling from grace so to say^^ like the demon-soul maiden who went into the fog in demons souls; like yuria the witch; yuria from ds3; irene; etc. but based on their loss of sight as a way to handle it-- at least simply put as far I could understand it.) especially directly worded in the Blacksky-Eye description on Bloodborne: "Deep within the eye lies a vast stretch of dark sky that rumbles with an endless meteor storm."- i could try to interprete this how eyes connect one to the gods themselves-or maybe eye-sockets work as a kind vessel for outer gods (we see loosing their eyes always results in some outer god taking over^^) so....... eh...... am lost, only wanted to add thoughts and not specifically theorize, bye:).

I'd say Outer God of Frenzy is all but confirmed by the stated characteristic of the unalloyed golden needle that it removes the effect of an outer God's influence. Since it's this feature that allows you to remove the flame of frenzy from your character, that heavily implies outer god. The fell god is also most likely the outer god that the fire giants served which would make it bare minimum 6.

Considering GRRM wrote at least some of the backstory, I interpreted Marika and Godfrey’s relationship being somewhat similar to Cersei Lannister and Robert Baratheon, where Godfrey is a savage warrior who Marika married out of necessity, but was probably not a very good husband or Elden Lord after the battles were over, so she got rid of him. George loves combining large scale stories about gods and kings with personal and familial drama, and there’s quite a lot of that in Elden Ring’s story

Idk man I think Godfrey was fine, Marika just manipulative as fuck. @@jamesdipego8240 na, this seems very in line with the Lore of Elden Ring, and the way Miyazaki and George like to write war mongers. Hoarah Loux was a bloodlusted beast, monster who met the blade of countless warriors, but could not die to them. Hoarah Loux being the lord in the time before the Erdtree makes so much sense considering his connection to the crucible era. In the crucible era, everything was pure - everything was one, all emotion, motives, physical traits, all. Hoarah Loux, naturally, adopted this as a character trait. He was simple, he was pure…. WAR, WAR, WAR. He placed great value in becoming lord only after felling his enemies. His bloodlust was so bad, that he had to become Godfrey to conduct himself as a lord. Even then, he still was capable of being a lord in the era of Queen Marika. Marika needed Godfrey to do what he enjoys: start a genocide. After godfrey’s only purpose left him, he lost grace, he lost ambition, therefore he lost meaning in life - and was no longer required as lord. Just because Godfrey is honourable in defeat, or that he has primal love for his offspring’s, doesn’t mean he isn’t a genocidal war monger. And it wasn’t manipulation from Marika. Godfrey was just too stupid to conduct himself as being smart, or a politician, once his enemies were felled. He should’ve known the consequences of there being no enemy. Fantastic character, he is. One of George and Miyazaki’s most simple, but effective character arcs in Elden Rings history

@@marknut9741 I think that’s the very point of his character. Elden Ring puts heavy emphasis on the different identity of ages. The Age of the Crucible was more simple, combined, less convoluted and less complex. It was whole. It simply followed the rule, in general, of “a crown is warranted by strength”. Almost everything back then was kind of ‘caveman-esque’ The Age of the Erdtree is different. After Godfrey’s conquest, the Age became more political. There were betrayals, conspiracies, and more ‘back-stabbing’ than the “a crown is warranted with strength” idea. I think Godfrey is a grey character, his morality is very difficult to discern due to his simplicity… but that’s what it is: ‘Simplicity’. George and Miyazaki seem to have made him simple on purpose. Him being simple shows the “flaws” of how his “Order” worked in the past. Radagon represents something Godfrey was never going to become due to his crucible-era ties, and his archaic view on lordship. Godfrey become a lord through strength. Radagon becomes lord through intelligence and faith. Both characters represent the flaws in the other’s techniques of lordship. Kind of like how, in the real world, we were much closer to our sense of self and our primal tendencies due to simplistic ideals centuries ago.. but NOW, we currently lack self-identity and confidence in our primal intentions, but have WAY more intelligence to fake our intentions and comprehensive skills to dictate decisions

I wanted to clarify one thing: the outer god of rot≠the goddess of rot. Malenia is a vessel for the outer god of rot, in the same way Marika is for the Elden Ring. We know this because we know of at least one other god of rot, the scorpion god sealed by the blind swordsman. He later teaches Malenia, and I doubt that could've happened if she was already sealed away. We can also safely assume that he didn't seal the actual outer god because the outer gods would by definition exist on a different plane of existence, and thus be beyond such triflings.

Re: sacrifices I'm not sure I'd treat it as a literal sacrificial ritual. Marika engineered the Shattering seemingly to break free of the Greater Will and to allow someone to forge a new destiny. That someone ends up being us, but we have to kill the demigods to do so. In that way, they become mere sacrifices to allow a Tarnished to become Elden Lord.

13:44 I don't think the soul is referring to the headless being as Marika's unwanted child, he's referring to Godwyn. He is the soulless demigod because his soul was killed, and, despite the fact that Godwyn was Marika's favorite child, his new form as the Prince of Death is unsightly to the Golden Order. The mausoleum knights are also associated with Godwyn, wielding weapons infused with Death, and Lhutel's ashes even state that she chose to Live in Death to serve the "soulless demigod" until he could be reborn.

Regarding Marika calling the demigods sacrifices, I think that's in reference to her plan. She clearly wants someone to rise to the throne of Elden Lord and slay a god, so she encourages her kids to do so. But, if they fail, then they'll be but sacrifices for the Tarnished who kills them to eventually become Elden Lord.

I’m going to have to disagree a bit. The bodies in the Walking Mausoleums do not produce deathblight. Godwyn does produce deathblight. Soulless is an ambiguous term. In reference to Godwyn, his soul is dead. In reference to those in the mausoleums, their souls are absent. Grace is something like souls shaped into runes to produce some sort of magic. The Elden Ring is a compilation of runes as is the Rune of Death. However, the grace in Destined Death is dead. Grace is living, in a sense. Deathblight is just what dead grace is called. Godwyn’s living body houses dead grace which is apparently incredibly infectious. If the soulless demigods has dead souls, we’d see deathblight. We don’t. Now look at Miquella. His body is soulless, his soul is in the Land of Shadow. Deathblight does not grow from his body. I suspect that these soulles demigods are in this state because they went to the Land of Shadow. Perhaps even as scouts and/or messengers for Miquella, they could have been sent to find or signal the Tarnished. Some complication has occured and they have not returned to report their findings to Miquella. The Eclipse was meant as a contingency plan to recall them if they couldn’t return on their own. It failed. I’ll go further and suggest that Miquella decided to go in anyways but set up a tertiary exit at the Chapel of Anticipation.

@alliesangalli1757 2 ай бұрын
@kreadapelu8813 Yeah I did some more research and I was definitely wrong about it being Godwyn. Specifically, the Eclipse Crest Heater Shield states that the Mausoleums house the slumbering soulless demigods, plural, which definitely refers to the headless bodies. I love the idea of them being soulless because their souls are in the Land of Shadow. We already know that Miquella had to get rid of his body so his soul could go to the Land of Shadow, and the state of his body is similar to that of the soulless demigods. Plus, it seems like the Land of Shadow has some association with spectral things in the Lands Between, which would connect it to the Mausoleum knights. That being said, I disagree about the eclipse. I think it was Miquella's attempt to bring back Godwyn. The Golden Epitaph, which was made after Godwyn's death, was infused with a young boy's prayer that states: "O brother, lord brother, please die a true death." It seems clear that Miquella lamented Godwyn's fate. With the eclipse being said to bring soulless bodies back to life, I think Miquella wanted to summon an eclipse to resurrect Godwyn, either to have him back or to grant him a proper death. Perhaps the reason it failed was because Godwyn's soul wasn't away in the Land of Shadow, but dead. Perhaps this is how Miquella even learned about the Land of Shadow and how to get there.

@@alliesangalli1757 Yeah, I can see that possibly being the case. Heck, it’s possible that Marika’s “sacrifices” line refers to the Land of Shadow. As it seems that one must discard flesh, grace, name and all other bindings to get there. The purpose is to force you, isolated from all aid, to prove your worth. A lord, a god, must be strong without grace. All the Tarnished too must be strong without grace. If her children try but fail, they don’t get to come home. At least, in my head canon, Marika/Radagon have been orchestrating the death of the Elden Beast for a very long time. There is a fear that it could sap the strength of runes from those who would be its death, so she needs us to not need grace… and there are plenty of players who do level one, no hit runs to prove it’s possible.

@@alliesangalli1757 The Eclipse Crest Heater Shield description specifically states that "the sun in eclipse is said to be the symbol of the Wandering Mausoleums where the soulless demigods slumber", so I have to think that the eclipse isn't for Godwyn. Also, the eclipse is specifically to "grant life to the soulless bones", and Miquella wants Godwyn to "die a true death", rather than be revived.

I believe that the event of the Rune of Death’s removal isn’t different to the concealment of the Land of Shadow. Fromsoft & Bandai’s phrasing makes it seem like that the “Golden Order’s dark secrets” (Bandai, 2024) will be uncovered… and we know that the Golden Order was founded on the principle that Marika became the Eternal Queen after removing Death. And we know, from interviews and trailer context, that the Land of Shadow is where “Marika became a god and the Erdtree was born” (Famitsu, 2024). Now, I’m not saying that the Erdtree is a later edition to the game’s chronological timeline. Instead, I’m inferring that the “Golden Tree is born” (Famitsu, 2024) Miyazaki is referring to is specifically the Erdtree as we see it today. I believe there was ALWAYS an Erdtree of Life (perhaps the Crucible form of the Erdtree, perhaps an ancient Greattree), but after doing whatever Marika did in the Land of Shadow to become a god (I think she defeated the Gloam Eyed Queen and removed death to be on the Eternal), the nature of the Erdtree changed to what she sees fit… hence “the Golden Tree was born” (Famitsu, 2024) I think, among many of the things that will only bring us more questions, that we’ll actually get a lot more answers than prior Miyazaki DLC’s. Among those answers/clarifications to be The Removal/Nature of the Rune of Death; Numen and Marika; and the Crucible, Elden Ring and the Erdtree.

An era where intelligence did not exist, and hence, there were no lords or gods. Although there was life before, we can understand that the “ELDEN” Ring landed in the Lands Between giving life evolution, intelligence and the ability to harness the power for Order (Lords). The “ELDEN” Ring also attracted many external influences from cosmic deities (Gods) that weren’t here before the Landing of the Elden Ring TL;DR - There were no lords and gods before the “Elden Ring”, because there was nothing to influence before the Elden Ring reinforces order

The best way to interpret Marika is as a combination of Mother Nature and Cersei Lannister. She is constantly trying to beget upon the world more powerful children (Evolution) and she discards the unwanted children (Natural Selection, the sheers for the Tree of Life that snips off unviable branches of Evolutionary iterations). Cersei also has children (with Robert and with her twin, Jaime). She kills the child that she had with Robert, and she kills all of his bastards in a night of knives. She keeps and prizes those she had with Jaime (Joffrey, Tommen, Myrcella) and dispenses of Robert's potential claimants to the throne. Obviously, this is not a 1 to 1 situation, but I wonder if all of her children with Godfrey were Omen and/or cursed. Maybe Godwyn was not even Godfrey's son. Maybe he was someone else's. Maybe Godfrey was a cuckold. What is interesting about the Hellenic Greek concept of cuckoldry is that a cuckold would often be depicted as having horns like a beast.

Even Leyndell has sand build up (before you kill Maliketh, there's a lot of it already there. Guess they don't have janitors there; only a thousand knights). There are broken down villages, and very few "people" left. Even if you "win", win what? Elden Lord of a broken world.

my theory on the soulless demigods is that they’re not directly sacrificed by marika, rather the subject of a ceremonial burial she oversees (likely via morgott and his forces) when they’re killed by a tarnished. the beheading of the demigods would be to symbolically take back the godhood they failed to deserve; and their loyal soldiers being beheaded alongside them would serve the dual purpose of making sure that nobody is able to physically speak their names anymore (or possibly even think of them, given that the brain is now gone), condemning them to eventually being forgotten by the greater lands between. this is why there are places like the impaler’s catacombs (yes, I think messmer is a soulless demigod. more on that in a bit) that are seemingly of great importance yet named after a person nobody knows of I initially got on this whole train of theorizing while thinking about the fact that vyke 100% For Sure killed at least two demigods in order to be eligible for lordship, but *we never see them mentioned ingame*. given there are five mausoleums, I assume there’s at least five demigods that have been killed/buried this way, and my dlc theory is that they’ll be the ones we fight in the shadowlands - they seem to be a metaphysical burial ground for things that marika wants everyone else to forget (hence the presence of her messier conquests, crucible beings, etc), so it makes complete sense to me that her shunned children would be trapped there as well

Just realized that destined death might be an imperfect version of the rune of death, which means the rune is connected to the formless mother. Basically it became its own cult because it needed a place in the universe or someone to worship it for its existence. Because it was already part of the natural part of the world and that is the result now that the rune of death is plucked from the rest of existence. And the Revelation about the mausoleums I'm not sure I've heard before.Thanks Bandit!

Regarding the dead demigods, I think you're really right to bring up that quote of Marika/Melina. I usually conceived of that as referring to the Shattering and all the demigods waring to become Elden Lord. But yeah, what if instead it is much earlier. Tarnished Archeologist's recent dive into the story depicted on the pillars of the Ancient Civilization below the Lands Between suggests a story of sacrifice. Maybe at some point earlier in history, sacrifice was a required part of nourishing the Erdtree (Greattree?). And in removing the Rune of Death from the Elden Ring, Marika would have had to change those practices. This also echos what Jack is a Mimic is looking into right now, suggesting that Marika actually was behind the Night of the Black Knives along with Ranni. Her needing to sacrifice a child once again for... some reason? A thing she'd done many times before, but maybe knowledge of these practices were locked in the Shadow Realm when it was sealed away.

1:59, 2:55, 4:21 Ghostflame is NOT Destined Death! Ghostflame is the fire of an outer God that was revered before the age of the Erdtree, while there was still a normal concept of death. The envoy of this outer God was the Twin Bird, who birthed the Deathbirds. The Deathbirds create the Ghostflame by burning the bones of the dead. They serve this God of death as fire keepers by wielding these freezing fires as a weapon to protect the graveyards. Check the item description of Explosive Ghostflame for a short confirmation. You are probably confusing the Ghostflame with the God slaying Blackflame of the Gloam-eyed Queen, that you also mentioned a sentence later. This magical flame actually has Destined Death as the source of its power. You can distinguish the two by Ghostflames blue hue and its frostbite status effect. Blackflame is completely colourless and has the max health burn very similar to pure destined death. Another thing: Destined Death does NOT have to power of those who live in death. It can NOT create undead like you mentioned. This is happening because Godwyn died in soul alone, while his body is still alive in a freakish state of cancerous growth, spreading this undeath everywhere in the lands between. It is true that Godwyns soul died through destined death, but if the rune of Destined Death (the Mark of the Centipede) was not split into the Cursemark of Death he would have died a true death, with his body dying as well. Instead Ranni used the other half to slay her body to free her soul from the Two Fingers. Destined Death is not the source of undeath, Godwyn is or at least what is left of him. 5:21 While it is correct that outer Gods often chose a "Messiah", like with Marika and Mohg this does NOT make that person immortal. Marikas (and in turn Mohgs) immortality came from the removal of the Rune of Death from the Elden Ring, it had nothing to do with their "God" status. This is not to be confused with the source of immortality for the Tarnished, which is the Guidance of Grace, a blessing by the Greater Will. Sorry to bash into your video like that. I understand why you made these mistakes, they are easy ones to make in the confusing mess of Elden Ring Lore. I hope you don't mind me correcting you. Have a nice day.

Just a theory - The Elden Ring has been shattered, taken apart, etc. Now that it is broken, it can not be restored to its former glory. In Dark Souls, one of the major themes is 'restoring the flame.' I feel that Marika is trying to restore the Elden Ring, that the runes are decaying over time. The point of having all these children is for them to grow, gain power, and then be used to embolden the Elden Ring. This is also why the Tarnished where exiled: they live lives of hardship and then return in a battle-royale so that the strongest of them can 'restore' the Elden Ring for a time.

Not really a theory, but i have the following ideas: -As Gideon says when we kill him "Marika wants us to struggle eternally", essentially to fight. (but he was wrong about the fact that a tarnished can't become elden lord so...) -We know that there is a "golden lineage" which started with marika and godfrey and continued with godwyn the golden and their other children (at least the 2 omens) all the way to godefroy and godrick. I think they are distant descents of marika like great-great-granchildren or something. -The children of radagon and rennala are officially stated to be "demigod step-children" when radagon married marika so we know that, at least officially, one can become a demigod by marrying into the family of marika What I propose is the following thing: what if Marika and all her extended family are given the choice to be "god or lord" to create a struggle or war? apparently she wants there to be war all over. And could this be why she took grace from godfrey and the tarnished? they were the strongest warriors and army and there was no more war after their victories. So she and godfrey win against all their enemies and other gods (at least the giants had another god) and then there was peace, but marika doesn't want that (for whatever reason), so she sends away her army and creates a vacuum of power and she forces her demigods to fight between themselves. Whose who refuses are sacrificed. The ritual appears to be connected to the remembrance concept, as it happens in game so maybe... the sacrifice of a demigod can help to empower the great memories who are within the erdtree? Like a sacrifice to creare a more powerful warrior? Then, when all this demigods have finished with their war and have found some sort of equilibrium... then she awakens the tarnished. And here comes back her original army, ready to take another fight in the land between. To create an eternal war.

Well, if the bell tower corpses exists to recall remembrances, maybe Marika figured she could utilize these lesser children to recreate the beings held within a remembrance, and perhaps with them a sort of facsimile of the rune shards of the elden ring. From there maybe she could have forged another perhaps different elden ring, one not beholden to the elden beast or other outer gods.

The walking mausoleums also have the same architectural style....so maybe their origin steams from the Eternal Cities.

I have a feeling either Melina or messmer could be that unwanted child. We know little of both, but enough to know that Melina is potentially the gloam eyed queen, and I wholly believe they could be twins, just like miquella and malainia, and morgott and mohg. Melina, after having the rune of death stolen from her, was then subsequently killed, burned and bodiless as she says, but could've reborn as a sort of spirit, not yet lost, and able to aid the player in her journey to remember who she was (which she does in the frenzy flame definitely). Messmer on the other hand, could've been unwanted not by his desires to not be a god or Lord, but because like another comment said, he could've tried doing Marika a favor and burned the Greattree down to make way for the big golden Erdtree we see today. This, as the commenter also said, could be the reason burning the Erdtree is seen as a cardinal sin, and also why snakes are seen as blasphemous

There are caskets near the melania boss room that look exactly like the wandering mausoleum caskets except they are clothed and have heads. They look suspiciously like the oracle envoys to me. And no one seems to talk about them!

Im just realizing that Ranni and Radahn were the children of Radagon and Rennala - but that at the time, Radagon wasnt Marika - neither parent was a God. How exactly are they demi-gods then? How exactly was this justified to the people of the lands between, who didnt know Radagon was (eventually) Marika?

I always thought that the "soulless demigods" were simply demi gods that Marika had which weren't born with any power or strength. Below that of even Godrick, who used the power of Grafting to artificially make himself stronger. I subscribe to the theory that Marika (and the numan in general) are the same people as the Nox, so maybe she simply brought these artifacts to decorate the tomb of her children. Becuase, despite her not wanting them, she still had some love or maybe even just respect for her children

I have a theory about the Moseleums. So as most might of heard it is very likely for Messmer to be a son of Marika and Radagon and he is cursed with fire like how Malenia has scarlet rot. With Messmers fire he burnt down the great tree for the Erd tree to grow ( as stated by others already). Doing so is a cardinal sin therefore Marika had to sacrifice him to perform a ritual where instead of fully dying he went to the shadow of the erd tree. Due to there being multiple moseleoums and multiple dead demigods I believe the Nokrons, who’s chests and artefacts where in the room cloned his body to complete the ritual potentially. Sorry for rambling on please be welcome to fill in the probably many holes in this theory.

I'm gonna put forward a bit of an in-depth theory about the soulless demigods. In short, I think that they are Marika's children from before Godfrey, and maybe before she ascended to godhood (Godfrey is referred to as the first Elden Lord, but this does not preclude Marika having any other relations prior to becoming a god). We start with the Nox. They are referred to in the shortened item descriptions (and older full item descriptions) as of the "empyrean family", and implied to be Marika's descendants. Important to note the word empyrean, so implying before Marika's ascension to godhood. This would also coincide with how Gowry calls the Sellians (who have heavy ties with the eternal cities) "descendants of the Eternal", the title being shortened from queen Marika the eternal since she is maybe not queen at this time. So how exactly are the Nox related to Marika? Well, we can look to other known children of Marika outside the golden lineage. As mentioned, there is a spirit near one of the wandering mausoleums talks of the mausoleum cradling a "soulless demigod, Marika's unwanted child", but the older 1.0 version of the spirit's text gives us a better clue. It refers to the soulless demigod as a bastard. Stands to reason then that this demigod is not of her union with Godfrey or Radagon, which opens the possibility that the Nox aren't either. So who could have fathered these soulless demigods? Well the only named character referred to as "soulless", other than Godwyn, is Ensha. Could be that Ensha was known as the soulless king in, say, the land of shadow or the land of the numen (at least before Marika came to the lands between), and fathered these soulless demigods with Marika, but that's a bit of a guess. It's equally as likely that Ensha and Marika founded the eternal cities together, and there's some theories that there's still an unknown figure that the Nox revered, and Ensha would fit that spot nicely. There are a couple bits of evidence that Ensha may be the Lord of Night that the Nox are waiting for as well. This would also tie in to how they could be related (by blood). For instance, Ensha has definite ties to the eclipse, which could with some imaginative liberties be construed as "night". First, a spirit in Castle Sol says "surrender yourself to the eclipse! Grant life to the soulless bones!". Given the specific use of the term bones, chances are this refers to Ensha or one of his descendants rather than Godwyn. The spirit at the top of Castle Sol also says "Lord Miquella, forgive me. The sun has not been swallowed. Our prayers were lacking. Your comrade remains soulless..." which may tie Ensha to Miquella's plans. It would make more sense than this referring to Godwyn, since based on the previous ghost in Castle Sol, there is specific mention of bones, and they want to bring life to this soulless demigod, whereas Miquella wishes for Godwyn to "die a true death". Also, the Eclipse Crest Heater Shield description states that "the sun in eclipse is said to be the symbol of the Wandering Mausoleums where the soulless demigods slumber". Now, if we do a bit of datamining, we find that the tibia mariners are internally referred to as "Night King's kin". This could also be related to Ensha, since the tibia mariners are heavily related to death and I believe that Ensha is somewhere referred to as the king of death, but if not there is definitely some kind of allusion there either way. The clinging bone weapon wielded by Ensha also has a skill that "drains the life" of a foe, and obviously there's the fact that Ensha is almost always referred to in relation to his skeleton. This would therefore maybe tie to the twin aspects of Ensha as a lord of death and to the potential "night" resulting from a solar eclipse. I suspect that in her ambition to control the cycle of life and death, and by removing the removing the rune of death from the Elden Ring, Marika took away Ensha's role in death and the afterlife, or at least cut his influence from the lands between (perhaps relating to how the land of shadow in the DLC was said to have been separated from the lands between?) There's a few other implications of this theory, particularly relating to Miquella's plans and the development of the Haligtree as well, but this comment is already long enough.

4:00 Wdym you’re not sure about the frenzied flame being from an outer god ?? Miquella’s needle literally says that it has the power to chase away the influence of outer gods then explaining how it can be used for that exact purpose to avoid the frenzied flame taking over The fell god is straight up said to be an outer god from which came his red flammes incantations, it would make more sense that the darkmoon has frost magic as its signature effect

One mystery I’ve been enjoying exploring is Ensha. We literally get no knowledge of who he actually is. But I have a theory that he used to be serving Mohg or the formless mother for many reasons I’ve discovered
@ollieliddell3868
@ollieliddell3868 Ай бұрын
So his weapon scales with arcane. all other arcane, weapons with a couple exceptions, are blood weapons. Also the gem on his helmet seems to perfectly match the gem on the sanguine noble hood, Mohg’s helpers. He is known to be related to the Haligtree quest line which of course involves Miquella, hence Mohg. He attacks us after we get the haligtree medallion which we of course assume as we are told is because mr all-knowing wanted it BUT maybe it’s actually for Mohg OR to prevent people getting to the haligtree. If it’s to prevent people getting there another detail that makes sense is that there is a candle on his chest armour, candles light the only way through the fog to the Haligtree, so that would be the perfect way to wait and ambush anyone trying to get to it. There’s also a few other links to Miquella and the albunaurics who are also to do with Miquella. The bones on the armour are golden and belonged to the lord of the “lost and desperate”, we know Miquella has a lot to do with golden things and others deemed lost and desperate would seek the haligtree. Also the only other weapons or armour that have anything to do with arcane (apart from I think 1 other) are albanuric weapons and armour.
@ollieliddell3868
@ollieliddell3868 Ай бұрын
Between all that and any mistakes I’ve made 😅 I think either the current Ensha or the person the bones belonged to must’ve had some relation to Mohg, Miquella and the formless mother. perhaps the lost and desperate lord sought out Miquella but ended up working with Mohg to do so and that’s how he has the red gem on his helmet

Oh also there’s theories Ensha is also ‘formless’ under the armour, so formless mother reference and I think the only arcane scaling bow is the one with the formless serpents description which makes me believe we’ll definitely have more on the formless mother in the DLC but that’s a whole other thing
