This is BEYOND f*cked up. 🤦🏽‍♀️I can’t believe believe they are putting her into this type of situation. They will still be a family even if she wants to keep her last name. It honors the memories of her late father, she is almost a teen and has very valid points, it’s clearly means a lot to her.

I hope the parents didn't manipulate Emma into making that decision. I hope they let her make it on her own. I feel so sorry for her.

It's important for the new father to take over everything. The little girl doesn't want to change her name because that is her choice. I worry the parents will try and bully her into changing her name.

The mothers snide remark of not changing her name creates “lots of less than ideal things” was a power play to ensure Emma is feeling guilty. She followed it up with the future talks about it. Some people genuinely think large families are an aesthetic and foster children are an accessory and it’s disgusting. I’m so glad this young girl is outspoken and can speak for herself. Reality shows are not for children. Let them grow without being exploited on national television. I hope she finds her healing and that all of the children grow in healing.

In my opinion, the parent shouldn’t have been in the room when the kids were talking to the therapist, because I feel like with them being in the room might make the kids hold back on how they really feel to the therapist

Why is the new dad pushing for this? He would not appreciate his child's last name being taken away. When she grows up and gets married, she can choose then. Having growing up in blended families and being a part of the LDS community like them, this is manipulative and toxic to push this subject on this little girl. My mom tried blending the family names like this and it didn’t stick because we knew it wasn’t how we kids identified. This girl should have her decision respected and the parents need to stop talking about it constantly. SMH.

My father died when I was 11 and my mom remarried like a year or two later. I would have been DEVASTATED if I was forced to change my last name.

This is the first clip I've ever seen of this, and I absolutely hate it! The manipulation that these adults put onto the kids is mind boggling! I hate that I watch so much TLC that this was recommended to me. I thought it was going to be cute and wholesome, but its not and I really feel bad for these kids!

I feel like they are pressure her to change her name it's like for example my family members have the last name debord but I'm still a miller so u don't have to have the same last name to be family and it's more important to accept the fact she don't want to change her last name I just feel like when her mom ask her about it I kind of also feel that she just say I will change my last name so my mom won't bug me about it but you can tell she wasn't ready to answer that question yet and that a sign her mom was pressuring her to change it

She shouldn’t have to change her name at all. There are heaps of blended families that don’t have the same surname. Stop forcing her to do that otherwise she’s going to hate your guts when she gets older. This is a decision she should be allowed to make. It makes me furious

This makes me so mad hes Wanting to change the name for his own selfish reasons for his own insecurities and hes an adult this little girl has a real reason to have. An insecurity about changing her name and should be allowed to keep her dad's name. It's ridiculous and not as big of a deal. As hes trying to make it and if he can give me an indicate his frustration about wanting to? Change the name then he should understand why she wouldn't want to out of. A frustration that's actually valid.

This is so selfish. They are a blended family and so should honour that. In our blended family we have 3 different last names but we are all family. Spencer looks so angry.
