Can't even front. '90s R&B had some of the _best_ artists, albums, videos around. Today's R&B music can't even compare. The classic _Bad Boy_ era alone (B.I.G, Total, Faith, 112, Mase, the LOX, Carl Thomas and Diddy himself) had the game on lock. Today's music can't even compare.

People forget about a group called Intro that started Hip Hop Soul. The lead singer Kenny Greene wrote a bunch of stuff for Mary J. Blige. He passed away I think in 2001, but they are a huge part of R&B history, the creators of Hip Hop Soul.
