Love your videos man. I have a 1988 jeep YJ that I'm going to completely rewire myself. It's the old 4.2 carbureted engine. Would you entertain doing a video about how to plan out a wiring harness? Which items to put on each circuit, what to run on relays vs just a fuse, wire types you'd recommend etc?

It’s funny because I made one wiring video years ago and it really got a lot of traction, which kind of sent me down this path of helping people understand automotive wiring. Thank you so much for all of the time and energy you put into your videos. I won't' go into all of your great points as a creator but you are very talented. I build my own harnesses for my projects, mostly older Jeeps. I do everything with relays and switching to ground as possible to keep things simple. I have learned so much from you, I really appreciate your expertise. This system looks like a great innovation. So time saving and "cool" besides. I have already signed up for their notices. I will definitely try it on my next project. Thank you, sir.

Thank you so much for the interesting experiment and informative video. The SwitchPro recommends the use of relays for motors and other equipment where inductive loads are expected. I guess they are concerned about the inrush current duration and back EMF of an inductive load damaging the MOSFETs. I am also trying to simplify my car wiring with gang switches, but keep adding relays to the schematic!

Please make a video on Dual Alternators. Scenario 1: Alternators are paired together (parallel 12 volts). Typical work truck / emergency vehicle Scenario 2: Alternators are wired separately. The first alternator powers the vehicle like normal. The second alternator powers the accessories (Think deep cycle batteries) to power amps and sub woofers, or off road accessories like a winch, or electric PTO. Please use a GM 3-wire alternator in both scenarios. Thank you. Keep up the great work. Love the videos!

At 4:20, if the output provides constant + and switches the -, then it is not a "negative trigger" system. The trigger is what the switch (pushbutton) does when hit, and that does not matter to us. Using a relay to now switch the OUTPUT to cut the positive is not changing to a different "trigger". Otherwise, great explanation.

I have a similar setup on my full drift car, my battery kept draining i just figured the battery was needing to be replaced. after watching this video it makes sense, this device is constantly trying to send 12v to whatever device you have connected. the car sits in my garage and doesn't get turned on for a couple weeks at a time, i added circuit breakers near the battery so i can isolate the battery during storage and havent had an issue.

a 'CHALLENGE'!: Show a way to trigger an accessory at any preset RPM. It has to be adjustable. Has to have a range between 1,000 to 5,000rpm (or higher). Has to work with a 12 volt system. Has to be able to at least handle up to 30 amps. When below the selected rpm it should shut off and when at or above the set rpm it should allow power to pass to any desired accessory.

Question for the starter circuit. Or others wired the same. As the two positives to the relay share the fuse. But the earth's go to different places. Does the fuse still apply to both the circuit to the relay and the other side of the relay. Meaning there is no need for a fuse on the other circuit? I hope that makes sense. Reading up a circuit should have a fuse on both sides of a relay but in this case the fuse is being shared as both positive feeds are from the same starting point. I'm doing a kit car which is negative earth and as such due to that I need 7 relays. Shame. But I like the switchgear.

lets say you are powering your headlights and have a 30a fuse. you are taking power directly from the battery which is significantly more amps. the wire from the battery to the fuse is getting x amount of amps and only letting 30 through to the lights. does the battery to fuse wire overheat?

Amazing video, so go I actually bought one for the build of my race car. I do have a question though.....I was intending to wire my car with 7 core trailer wire. My question is this, do I need to ground everything through the fuse box or can I ground (for example) the rear lights grounded to the body and the live into the fuel box will it still work or do I need to run a ground back to the fuse box for every circuit? Thanks
@WiringRescue
@WiringRescue Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, the way that this box is designed, you have to run the ground for each circuit, because the ground is the actual trigger wire. You can swap the triggers from negative to positive, as I did with the starter in this video, but it would be a lot of extra wires if you have to do that for every circuit!

I would like to know if Relays can be wired in a way that there is a delay between each on in a series. I'd like to use a 'HALLS' Magnetic Switch to turn on other devices when it reaches a specific RPM, but I don't want the total load to all turn on at once, I'd like a delay between each device. Will having one Relay turning on another Relay, turning on a 3rd Relay allow the load to not all come at once? [EDIT] I did find Delay On and Delay Off Relays. They already exist.

The new one says anode switching not cathode. Good thing I have one foot on a banana peal, cuz I'm getting really tired of them changing the rules. In other words I'm not rewiring 12 accessories just because they wanna switch the negative. What about horns and lights that are grounded to the bracket. Argh, JPS.

Unfortunately this switch is probably not the best option for what you want to do because it switches ground circuits.
