I’ve crocheted for 50 years and purchased quite a few of those yarn ‘cakes’ from WalMart, when they first came out years ago. I used them to crochet beautiful shawls with intricate patterns and I am very interested in a few of the projects shown in this video. Thank so much you for sharing.

I love Lion Brand Mandala yarn. I made a chevron afghan using 5 cakes. Now I'm making another chevron with the mandala yarn named Echo Caves. I've made quite a few baby blankets with the yarn. I love the ombre yarns too! I didn't care for the "Groot" yarn, but seeing it worked up changed my mind. I may buy a few cakes and see what I can do with it.

It’s a technique where you alternate rows of single crochet in the back loop only with rows that have double crochet in the front loop only of the stitch 2 rows below.
