Best Osmo Action 4 review I’ve seen so far, and I’ve watched most of them. You taught me some new things and skipped the stats that everyone else run through. Great job. I’m subscribed and looking forward to more videos. Please share a link to tripod base you show in this video. I like how it just screws directly into the handle without adding addition height. After shooting my first underwater footage with the Action 3 (that I was lucky enough to win on Danny’s channel), I’m excited to see how good the Action 4 video works underwater. That larger sensor should make a huge difference to the quality. Plus the white balance sensor on these things rock. It kicks the GoPro’s backside for accurate white balance underwater to be honest!

Cool video. But i have to ask , whilst vlogging on the streets of big cities with a action 4 should is it possible to add an external mic that records front and rear. For example when i flip the camera away from me or towards me then the sound still is even. What's your thoughts? Or should i just use the built in mic and fix in post? Thank you so much as always

Cool review. FYI on the Light flicker, its not the voltage, its the frequency of the power, which is 60Hz US, 50Hz most other countries. your generators spin at 3600rpm ours at 3000rpm.

Does loop mode work in every resolution/fps? How is the timecode synchronized between multiple cameras? Also, #13 - you can control up to 16 OA4's with the new GPS/Bluetooth remote!

regarding the loop record, does it takes couple second to start the next record ? thus missing that few second in between videos.

At 2:49 you say it "will flip the orientation for you", why would it want to do that when clipped to your shirt in the upright position? I just bought a Snapmount necklace do do what you did but it's more sticky. It seems to be more stable if I mount it upside-down. But the camera doesn't flip it automatically. Is there a setting for that? No problem to do in Premiere, but would be nice if it did for you. Thanks- great video!

you can use the audio through the Webcam mode by the way. This is something that was not included in the action 2 or 3, but can confirm it is included on the action 4

Woah, woah, woah! We just glossed over Timecode! Does it have the ability to sync across cameras or does it just let you set it as time of day? Those are two different things. One would get you in the ballpark and the the other is frame accurate +-1. Does showing it let another action 4 scan it in or is there a wireless sync? Thanks!

Can use usb c mics but not a mic and usb c power bank at the same time. So if you wanted to record for long sessions like on a boat or kayak and not have to swap batteries and use a deadcat you can't. You can with the gopro even though the adapter is a bit bulky..

Great video. One question. Can you do an overnight time-lapse with a USB-C cable plugged in to keep the camera on overnight? We shoot our hermit crabs for our channel with our phones but it would be awesome if I could use the Action 4 to do the same. Thanx and new sub here!

Hi Danny, to avoid the light flickering effect in Australia, do you recommend to shoot all the videos in 4k 25 frames per second?

Yes I would. At least in multiples of it.. so 25 / 50 / 100 fps . And if you are editing the footage, make sure your time line is set to 25 fps and not 30..

Seems a few weeks early to decide. This is comparing the new DJI model to the old GoPro model. It seems as many free cameras as DJI sent out they may feel the need to get some cameras sold early! Maybe they know something we don't. 😉 7:47 If we wait a few weeks we might be able to make a more informed decision. I don't have a dog in the fight but I'm also not in a hurry and this seems rushed to market. It might not change anything when the 12 comes out but I'll wait and see. All I'm saying is most companies understand timing. 🤷‍♂️

So, you can use it as a webcam by using the USB-C port, but how do you also connect a USB-C mic? My laptop only has 1 USB-C port..

Thx for the question yes you can use it as a webcam using the usb but you will been a different mic to do so if you only have one port I would recommend buying and hub with multiple ports in it hope that has helped

I don't understand why DJI missed 5K in 2k23 and also there are very similar features of Action 2 which was launched in 2019. Very slow update from DJI every year. Nowadays these action camera companies are also behaving like smartphone companies, very slow updates and also every year they launch similar products with some small changes

Danny, I am just being picky for overseas travelers ,Australian standards require electricity to be supplied at 230 V. (+10% to -6%), therefore providing an allowable voltage supply range between 253 V to 216 V. I bet all those that bought the Hero 11 wish they bought a just cheaper better camera now! Love the vids as usual.

7:20 actually you do have to have that accessory dongle thing hanging off the side of the camera. USB microphones are non standard stupidity. Why can't they just put a 1/8" plugin power stereo microphone jack on the side?

Hey Danny If you set the OA4 to its widest FOV and turn dewarp on, will the dewarped FOV be wider than GoPro's linear FOV ?

Took my new Action 4 out today. Um. Step back a bit, I have owned 3 gopro's, last one is the 10. I bought them, turned them on and they worked, I filmed stuff, I took micro SD card out, popped it in my MacBook pro. downloaded footage. Simple, it works. GoPro app is also simple, it turns on the go pro, it does everything you need so. Action4. Took it out and filmed, ok so far, came home, took card out popped in Macbook, "incompatible" What! Went to app, had to turn on camera first, then found it seem I have to download to my phone first. This is where I stopped. I want simple. There's nothing that m,akes me want to put up with more complicated camera. Hero 12 please! I honestly think all the DJI action 4 videos are a waste of time right now as Hero 12 is due anyday now
