Thank god you retired. It’s nice to see there are teachers who will work the extra hours, at double their normal rate to ensure that the kids in their classroom are taken care of until their parents can pick them up. Our teachers earned $65 + per hour to stay 3-4 hours longer to tutor kids, have study hall and extra curricular activities for both the kids and stay at home parents who needs English or GED classes. It takes a village to create a thriving community.

This feels so BACKWARDS. Shouldn't we be working towards being able to have families together more? In 10 years are we just going to say kids should just stay at school 5 days a week and only come home on the weekends so parents can work more? In 20 years are we going to say..welp...might as well just have them live at school because its more convenient?

They raised the minimum wage in California to a living wage, and people are having a cow. You’re damned if you do, damned if you don’t. I bet the kids love this. I would imagine they’d rather be home, but I can guarantee a lot of them are happier there. As long as everyone is ok with this, why not. Sometimes the safest place for kids, is school. @@weirdo24-7 i was not able to understand your first sentence. Also in the clip the adults were advocating the program so it seems if they didn't want to do it they wouldn't advocate it on camera. @@sandra-jones To be fair, it's not really about the parents. It's about the kids and the teachers and the implications of quality advancement in different aspects that can be offered to the children. It's okay to give a blanket statement about stress when dealing with bad behaving children on a bad day since it is realistically going to happen. It's not about knowing children but analyzing a real scenario. Not every day is perfect and not every child is perfect as well as teachers. Lastly it's not just about dealing with children but dealing with stressful conditions and situations as a teacher and being able to relax and decompress with enough time at home for the teacher. We have this in Germany. School ends at 1:00 and after school care runs until 6:30. The reality is some people need this type of care. It's not actually "school". It's playing outside, crafting, finishing homework, dance parties, field trips, documentaries, pokemon cards and everything kids would love to do all day at home. At first I thought it was too much and would try to have my son at home by 3:00. Now he refuses to come home until 4:00-4:30. Flexible work schedule helps us a lot but he still loves being there.

No as an Educator, I'm not at all for this. Teachers, support staff etc. are already overworked, under paid and under appreciated. All children should have access to a quality education, but a 12 hour day is too much for students and staff. Parents especially this generation already view educators as their personal disciplinarian and babysitter. Go back to old school days 9:00 - 3:30 with an hour lunch. 2 weeks for spring break, 3 weeks winter break, pink slips, green slips, home cooked meals and butter cookies and you had Teachers who cared and children who learned.

Whatever the payment, it doesn't compare or replace quality time spent with loved ones. And their record for appropriating funds in a descent, equitable way should let you know that its highly unlikely. The forethought of a project like this gives off the arrogance of manipulation, control and further stress and strain on family ties to pretend to help while circles are being ran by a rat face who clearly out of touch with what's truly needed. So, they want everyone else running circles too. At the end of the day, nobody wants to spend their entire life working for others and Nothing to show for it and family time an after thought. And if any of the so called bucket head genius had a half brain to thank. They'd never would have and continued structure of dismantling, duress, control then manipulation for self gratification. Civil people want others and themselves to be and do what makes them happy without causing harm to others. This my friend, is a banana in the tail pipe and smoke up the behind.

@ghengis423 it's probably not mandatory. Considering that teachers are with our kids more waking hours than the parents it's not something that's truly a good thing. I'm in Arkansas, a deep red state. My kids were being told to call CPS on their parents for Anything that child deemed abuse. That was ranged from making them eat a dinner they didn't like, to an actual spanking. They had a feminist teacher that voiced her opinions about how bad marriage and children are. They said they had no bullying policy. If the bully was the child of a teacher or administrator it was overlooked. The kids that needed help understanding their work were overlooked. Kids that couldn't read well enough to follow instructions were passed to next grade. Anytime kids are spending more time with state paid employees, they are not going to be influenced/taught the values or principles the parents hold dear.

This is an absolute shame. I worked as a para at a school twenty five years ago and there were small children at school for ten or eleven hours if not more. There is no parenting happening if children are separated from their parents that long. They parents only had time to get dinner at a drive through and put the child to be. This should NOT be encouraged. School staff is not a parent or even relative. This is why we have so many problems now.

This program needs to be stopped and dismantled! It’s starting 7-7, then next year it’s going to be 16 hr care, then in 3 yrs will be 24 hr care so parents can work night shift! When you decide to have children, you decide to PARENT. When you decide to have children you give up the same work opportunities that you had before you had kids. Millions of mothers every year leave their jobs because they know they have a duty to their child and they do so at a huge financial loss, because you don’t pick money over your kid.
@hmunaaa
@hmunaaa Ай бұрын
It’s not picking money over your kid. Parents are not working this much just for fun. It’s all about survival and providing the best you can for your children. That requires sacrifices and making difficult decisions and money is a big part of decision making process. If you make enough money then your kid reaps the benefits, like a roof over their head, healthy food, good education, healthcare, extracurricular activities, etc. Many parents leave their jobs out of necessity. Daycare costs more than what they make so it doesn’t make sense for them to continue to work.

We have this as well in Germany.
