I have just bought a 2013. I cannot say I am as pleased as you are about your bike. I had 2 x 1150Gs some years back and loved them. Thought I was coming home, with a modern BM. Hopefully if and when I may fix it , perhaps in 12 months I will do a video like yours. Excellent job most enjoyable video. .

Brilliant vid mate. Thank you. What model has cruise control. Looked at a 2013 R1200GS the other week and it didn’t have cruise control.
@ADVBrett

Thanks mate! Yeah this was the late 2013 model, first of the new shape which had cruise as standard. It was all integrated into the RH handles. Possibly had it removed? Don't know why you'd do that though!

I bet you piss a lot of People off when you cut between all the Cars at a Red Light. Not only that, it’s Dangerous! You’re really not setting much of a example for New Riders. I can’t believe you did that. It would have Pissed me off , if you did that at a Red Light to me. That was a very Stupid move!!!
@ADVBrett
@ADVBrett 2 жыл бұрын
It's called Lane Filtering and it's legal in NSW. If it pisses people off then unfortunately, that's their problem, there's nothing illegal or dangerous about it and I hope it DOES set an example for other riders because I highly recommend it. Check the link below. roadsafety.transport.nsw.gov.au/stayingsafe/motorcyclists/lanefiltering/index.html
@prawns
@prawns 2 жыл бұрын
Your a muppet Joey, nothing illegal about lane filtering where i am either - They TEACH it to new riders as part of multiday rider training here to get your licence. Its a **proven** safety measure to stop injuries to motorbikers getting squished in between cars with rear ender accidents at lights - and as a bonus it also improves traffic flow. Pretty unsafe not to lane filter to the front - and a pretty stupid unsubstantiated and incorrect comment you made bet you feel dumb now.
@thereplacementfordisplacement
@thereplacementfordisplacement 2 жыл бұрын
I wish we could legally lane filter. Dummies around here have bastardized lane filtering from other states to mean at any speed under any traffic condition at highway speeds. With people doing this it's unlikely filtering, not lane splitting, will ever become law. It is safer, completely avoids getting smashed from behind by a distracted driver assuming there's enough buffer of vehicles.
@ADVBrett
@ADVBrett 2 жыл бұрын
@@thereplacementfordisplacement Got to keep pushing to make it legal, use the NSW motorcycle rules and keep pushing!
@angusgilfillan3615

Far safer to filter at red lights. Then clear the traffic rather than get sideswiped in the moving out charge.

Just a quick question. Im thinking of getting a 2013-2016 GSA model. Does having a 19" wheel pose any problems on dirt track etc ?. I have a Yamaha WR450 currently but I'm doing more tarmac and dirt roads and not as much enduro anymore. Also, just noticed you were lane splitting. Can I do that in Queensland ?
@ADVBrett
@ADVBrett Жыл бұрын
Hey Kev, I didn't do as much dirt on the GS as I do on the Twin but I've certainly found d the 21 inch front much better. Not too sure about filtering in QLD, more states are getting on board but check your local licensing group.
@kevrenshaw6177
@kevrenshaw6177 Жыл бұрын
Cheers Brett. Its been a worry getting a smaller tyre for the amount of gravel and dirt track I do but the Africa Twin just feels too big for me. Other alternatives might be the 790R with the weight low down but I have about 6 months to decide. Thanks bud.
@ADVBrett
@ADVBrett Жыл бұрын
@@kevrenshaw6177 Certainly try other bikes and get a feel for them. I've seen many people hit the dirt with the GS and get through the challenging stuff. I'd recommend the Twin even with my lack of experience I've had an awesome time on her

Thanks Brett. Really appreciate advice like this. I do quite like the KTM 790adventure because its got a low centre of gravity and by the time I get round to buying one maybe end of this year, I could get a 2018/2019 one with some bells and whistles for around $15-20k. But will I always be thinking about where my heart is with a GS ?. I could never afford a new bike like most people. I read a lot of reviews as if people have money to burn. Im a nurse so don't earn big bucks to blow $30k or upwards. Always buy second hand including some of my gear. Hence why a 1200GS and not a 1250. Just cant afford one.
