A Year in the Wild - 12 Months in the Wilderness From Yukon/Alaska & Northern BC to Northern Ontario: Trek, Survive, Portage, Canoe & Camp
Embark on an epic journey through the rugged landscapes of the Canadian and Alaskan wilderness in my latest video, "A Year in the Wild." From the blossoming spring of 2023 to the frosty depths of late winter 2024, experience the raw beauty of nature's playground.
Join me as I navigate the Hart River solo, fish for trout with Ted Baird and Shawn James, and enjoy family camping trips in secluded spots. Feel the adrenaline of paddling down the Stikine River into Alaska and the excitement of winter camping in the Yukon. Explore the frozen lakes on snowmobiles in search of giant trout. "A Year in the Wild" is an invitation to embrace adventure and witness the untamed wilderness in all its glory.

The Stikine River trip - oh boy! What a trip. What patience and strength you both have. Calmly but surely on you go paddling but I had shivers watching this one. The scenery with the icebergs was gorgeous. And I never tire of the Yukon trip. I love this channel and thank-you for all your adventures. Have a great day! 🙂 PS if kids need an example of heroes (and not comic strips) they should garner the strength of characters in these videos.

Jim, I have some gear questions after watching many of your posted episodes. 1) Favorite make & model of your wading boots? I've seen you use Chota and Simms. 2) Boundary bag preference? 120L or larger? I've noticed Eureka, but can't find them on their online website. 3) Bear Banger sticks? Are these only found in Canada? Can't find them in the States. Thanks, AK Van

Out there as in our natural environment as humans? I think the wired things happen when we’re not out there. Depression, anxiety, obesity, screen addiction, and many other health issues we don’t understand.

It’s illegal to keep anything over 26” in this lake. Those big lake trout don’t taste as good as the smaller one anyways.
