JessM I live hear everyday I hear it along with the Fdny my kid got hit by a car he's fine he broke his leg he was 12 at the time he's a good kid and the nypd was rushing and they're rumbler sirens just deafed me and him and the escort to the hospital his mother stayed with him I had to stay home and take care of my younger son.

The way they echo through the buildings is something to experience, I remember walking through the new World Trade Center area of downtown and hearing it echo through the city thinking, Damn that sounds so futuristic.

There's nothing quite like hearing a rumbler up close or nearby (expect perhaps the old Federal Signal 660 mechanical sirens that were used in the 60s maybe). Thanks for the upload.

Ryan R around here in Pinellas county FL. Our local Sheriff stopped having individual officers take people to jail in patrol cars. Now they have common drop off areas where a private transportation in a van comes and picks up the prisoner.

il Lock too difficult. LEOs need space in vehicles for their equipment, that’s why Crown Vics were widely used. Hell the chevy caprice can barely fit gear, that’s why they started going to the Ford Explorer.

Those didn't look like transport vans. Those could've been more for ESU. Just for the record, ESU is the SWAT team for the NYPD. Emergency Services Unit. They pretty much respond to every major case since 9/11.

Thats fleet services. NYPD mechanics are driving those rigs. Pay attention to the rear quarter panel, it says FSD, thats Fleet Services Division. And plain clothes dudes are driving.

You feel it physically inside of your body. It rumbles you to make you aware of the emergency vehicle. So it gets the attention of pedestrians and other drivers better than a regular siren.

12 NYPD cars with one person in them*, which could have been 6 NYPD cars, with two officers each. There were NYPD vans too...so maybe put a couple of cops in them as well. Better for the environment, less hassle to get through traffic. What a waste of resources. *Mostly, from what I could see.

Im not a big fan of police cars with red lights. Imo, a police car should be black/white with red/blue light bar and a push bumper. A lot of depts in New Mexico, including their state police use only red/red-white light bars. That's ugly as hell. They look like little fire trucks.

New York State law says cops can only have red/white on the front but they can have blue on their back. Blue on the front is for volunteer fire
