Many a time, animated films get canned as movies for children, not getting the commendation that these gems genuinely deserve. The technical mechanisms associated with animation have come a long way since its incipience. Earlier, we used to have hand drawings and character outlines but living in today’s computer-generated era, the style and panache of the brilliant show they have on offer form an integral part of cinema. One is bound to get smitten by the magnificent, picturesque visuals created entirely without the restraints of imagination. In this video, we will be taking a look into 12 of the most visually stunning adult animated movies that you cannot afford to miss!

Yes, Ninja Scroll was part of the list. After uploading the video, we got so many Claims on that part that we literally gave up and had to edit out the whole thing. Sorry for that. There were also similar issues in the Perfect Blue segment, you will find a choppy bit there as well.

Never thought about it, but the first tale in Heavy Metal is pretty much the basis for the Bruce Willis/Mila Jovovich movie ''The Fifth Element''
@eddievanhouten
@eddievanhouten 3 жыл бұрын
It is! The segment in the movie is called “Harry Canyon” and is based by the short comic story “The Long Tomorrow” by Moebius. Moebius worked with Besson on the Fifth Element. The publishers tried to sue Besson but was declined because Moebius worked with him. Moebius also worked on Dune project with Jodorowsky but the project was cancelled and from that project many artists did other things like Alien, Heavy Metal. Jodorowsky send his script to all Hollywood studios and rumors say Star Wars a new hope had f.e the same long opening shot as Dune and Jabba was inspired by Baron Harkonnen who was in the original A new Hope movie a fat guy before the cgi update. Anyway, Besson and Moebius often work together. Last time with Valerian.

absolutely! the connection of Luc Besson, who would likely been an avid reader of Metal Hurlant, the French predecessor to Heavy Metal, would've been a huge inspiration. and from those comics also came Enki Bilal who ultimately turned his Nikopol Trilogy into the film "Immortal". and then of course Besson went on to turn another famous French comic book "Valerian". and it would seem likely that they also were very influenced by Blade Runner which in turn was inspired by these comics. what we end up with is this diaspora of beautiful cyber punk-retro fit futurism/noir. Moebius and Jodorowsky would've been a potent mix for a version of Dune which i still wish could've been made in some way so i look very much forward to the Denis Villeneuve version.

Heavy Metal, is what taught me how much more terrifying and gruesome Zombies are, animated, rather than live action. Too this day, those zombies from the B-17 scene, still send chills down my spine and the way that those zombies were designed, is like no other style of zombie that I've seen. It really suprises and baffles me, that there aren't very much zombie anime, they seriously need to make more.

I have watched it at least 40 times since I was a child in the 80s (yes, my parents let me watch almost anything). The art style of 70s fantasy and sci-fi comics (which reminds me of Moebius, artist of the original Metal Hurlant magazine)... is awesome and nostalgic beyond any description. And the bombastic orchestral music mixed with Black Sabbath and other great metal bands... no words. The fantasy worlds, particularly those of Neverwere and Taarna, always make my imagination go hyperdrive.

@ Man... Seldom exists a film that has an ending so shockingly jarring it leaves the viewer in a state of stunned silence. The ending is both heartbreakingly sad, and unapologetically sickening, while also simultaneously serving as a deeply profound, metaphorical gut punch to the viewer's emotions. In my humble opinion, when one watches an animated film, even if the subject matter is intensely sad and disturbing, the fact that it is animated creates a noticeable barrier within the psyche that causes its viewers to be somewhat unable to fully grasp the horror, graphic violence, and sheer terror of the individuals who actually lived through it. The director had to be aware of this anomaly, and thus decided to connect the animation of the film itself with actual photos of this atrocity. Such a simple action created an undeniably powerful connection to the aforementioned horror of those who were actually involved. It instantly made the audience realize that the events found within the film were in fact very real, and subsequently tore down that metaphorical wall I had previously mentioned earlier on. Anyways, I could talk about this cinematic masterpiece to even greater lengths, but I think this is a good spot to wrap up my inadvertently length dissertation.😆

@@chrishutt6650 HBO originally spectated and kept older versions of shows and movies of the most unique sort that is until the 90s. Came to an end and after certain government b's about copyrights whitch is complete crap cause after 2003 svengoli came afar with a deal conspiracy with over 12 different companies. while doing that the meldowin melodies and Hanna barbana from co op-ed with cartoon network that affiliated with svengoli whom stole over 100 old titles overlapped during 2001 and re did from adult swim they activated a conspiracy cover up from a 5 million dollar deal settle ment with Sven goli after fireing over 1000 true crafters of older classics including the beloved classic nightmare before Christmas the adult swim had to paied off by said amount to keep their mouths shut. There for the MC garland family as well as the green family had an idea to work to Heather after three generations that screwed up the golden age of the greatest motion pictures ever concieved by a couple of the greatest minds a turn on the 19th last centry. In other words if the government didn't get greedy and fire all of thouse great artists that could have continued to makeing more golden class motion pictures instead of this crappy cgi lies that made a new generations of mindless junk that should have never been conceived period so to settle the rest to keep this lie afloat and out of reach by the time of 2003 the deal was struck secretly and now because of that were all stuck with crappy no good films the rest of the days of earth's future unfortunately without true originality. Because true creators with real intellect are no longer hired into Hollywood. Because the plan was to take out originality in the first place. The way the government wanted it. But of course that's where HBO tmc bravo and several major old corporations did the best they could in there factions to go ageinst the corrupted government to bring original creativity and true intellectual people whom still want to bring great films to life. The government tried to stop these factions but the kick in the nuts is this government can't because they only control the legislative part of that faction in Hollywood not the people's judicial nor federal branch choices because of the first and 14th amendment creating the political structure of true creativity that protects others art and ideals. And they cant touch it unless they want to lose the remainder of their branch power then the people would gain full control of all the hollywood. They may have been able to gain a great charge but a extreme tradeoff that could take 1000 percent average of their media stock. And copyrights would be shut down. And they don't want to hurt their remainder of the funding of their fat cats a number one piggy bank Republicans.

I saw Paprika and it really was good. It would nice to have a devise like that DC Mini and be able to record and show us our dreams, so we will not forget them. Of course, we would have to make sure it dose not have those dangerous and deadly side effects. P.S. You forgot to mention Fire and Ice and Wizards.

French independent film I believe. Very otherworldly and eerie but very good. Haven't seen it in years but I do remember it.

@@kratosjunior817 - if you’ve ever seen the movie “The Cell” with Jennifer Lopez, it’s the movie she’s watching when she falls asleep in her bedroom. Great animated movie from the 70’s. Bought it on DVD a few years ago. USA Up All Night used to play it often on Friday nights in the 90’s.

Street Fighter 2 is a genuine action masterwork. The US dub/ost combined with probably the most fluid fight scenes ever animated are just thrilling.

Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust is such an underrated movie. The scenery is gorgeous. Between that movie and Akira I haven't found a better animated movie.
