There has never been a piece of culture that captures a city more than this song captures NOLA. There really is no point in trying to play this to people not from New Orleans. It is impossible to describe.

I used to live directly behind McKenzies on the corner of Oak St., and Dublin. Nothing like waking up in the morning with that sweet smell nursing a lovely hangover brought on by living within stumbling distance of the Maple Leaf, Jed's Landing, Carrollton Station, and Jimmy's. Good times in the 'hood.

Having worked all over NOLA after Katrina, this song finally made sense to me after hearing it for the 4th time. It was sad to see what happened to all the things described here. Especially the lower 9th ward.

Btw my mom grew up in Arabi, and I grew up across the street from Tennaco/mobile I like to tell people home to me was coming out the house catching a big wiff of refinery smoke and fried Rocky’s veal cutlet in the air mmmm ahhhhh 😂

For all ya'll who ain't from New Orleans... YAT - refers to a person's current location. AARABEE - A suburb east of N'OLINS TOOJACKS - A common Cajun man's name and a famouse Chef in this case. FORE - Contraction of the word before. BAYAMOMMAS - A local pastery. LOWANINEWAAD - A suburb between AARABEE and N'OLINS. And the rest I am still trying to figure out.
