This is outtake footage from my docustory "Through The Eyes Of The Sculptor" a Gina Minervini film for PBS. I edited this from lots of footage not seen in film. Watch the precision, detail and time it takes just to create a bronze pour for a new sculpture. Everything needs to be documented before the pour occurs.
As director I learned alot about his art form. Who knew the furnace can get up to 2000 degrees. Voices heard in background are myself, and others that are part of the film - Emmanuel Fillion - Master Sculptor/Host, Lynne Streeter, American sculptor and director of Marble & Art Workshops. Cameramen: Robert Kronovet and Massimo Zeri. Owner of Mariani foundry: hear his voice explaining the process and what materials we are seeing. When pour is done they recycle the bronze that remains in the crucible.
Note: we had to stay back to shoot because it was very hot and we could not risk damaging the camera. When they appeared in their "armour" to pour that was a surprise for me. Let us know your thoughts... Gina
