Good old times, many memories. I am german and was in school in England in 1972. Loved it there and returned as an adult many times. Watching Corrie was one of the greatest pleasures. Enlish people are THE BEST

The scene at Elsie's beginning at 5:54 honestly make me smile. Especially when Minnie Caldwell comes in. And how gorgeous does Elsie look! What legends! Elsie, Maggie and Minnie.

19:42 onwards has to be Annie's campiest scene. It was like she was lampooning her character. Hilarious!! She looked great here for a woman in her 70s. PS, the scene with Bet and Betty singing the Andrews Sisters song just had me smiling ear to ear. Betty Turpin was in her element. In real life she performed like this back in the 30s/40s.

when tv could deliver something warm funny and character driven at Chrimbo without the need for screaming death and complete misery I grew up watching Corrie and loved it don't watch it now they ruined it its interesting that they could do this then: the cast were talented actors many that came up through rep theatre now they're all young bits of cheesecake reading off the auto cue

It does make me chuckle when some commenting hark back to a 'gentler Corrie', and how today there's 'more violence,drugs and crime'. The Corrie of old had its share of punch ups and criminal activity. The Corrie of today simply reflects the times in which we live.
@mickeyh1961

Share of punch ups for sure but no stabbings and considered to be just part of living, thank god this was recorded great to see again and yes it was in my opinion better than what goes for entertainment by today's standards , its depressing and off putting looking at today's junk same as eastenders

Love Coronation Street. I'm 21 years old in July and have been watching it for 15 years! I get it if people who have been watching it for years don't like it much now as compared to back then but life has changed. If they continued to do this style of drama, it would be seen as an outdated version of life today and many would be bored. I love all the dramatic storytelling nowadays and the amazing comedy Corrie is known for and love watching these old episodes when the soap began to become increasingly popular. But people need to understand that the showrunners nowadays, their storylines mean a lot to them. They shouldn't be spoken down by anyone

She had an extra long scene with Maggie in this episode with Emily and Minnie appearing and she messed up a line mocking Rita at 9:08 but kind of improvised to cover herself and kept going. Who knows, that could have been the 10th take and the director may have said to hell with it!
