12v Cummins First Start up Attempt in Over 8 Years!!

In this video I attempt to start a 1997 Dodge Ram 2500 with the 12 Valve Cummins Turbo Diesel that has been sitting for over 8 years on my farm!!! I've been wanting to do this video for a long time and today I finally got around to it. Thanks for watching and make sure to subscribe!

Hasn't run in nearly a decade. Drop a battery in it, disengage fuel shutoff, turn the key, runs like new. That's a Cummins.

I bought a 12 valve out of a box truck that had been sitting for a decade. I hooked a battery to it. Checked the oil. Took the fuel lines off the old rusted fuel tank and dropped them onto a bucket of kerosene. I jumped the starter wires and the engine started right up like it had never shut off.

Nice!! I have a 97 12valve 2wd dually 1 ton. Im still working on it. Putt alot of new parts on it and can't wait to get it done.

Wish I could buy that bed off ya. Got a 97 ECLB 12 valve with the exact same paint, and my bed is shot. And I’m just a state over from ya in Minnesota

Ahhh man dude!!! Ya gotta get a 12 valve they are amazing and they last forever. Free tuning too, you don’t have to spend 800 bucks on a tuner. THEY ARE AWESOME!!

Get the 12 valve. Better fuel economy, and more power than a gasoline engine. And get one with the P7100 injection pump. Most reliable engine ever put into a pickup. EVER.

So I’m in North Dakota and I’ve herd deisel is ok during the winter. So if I buy a 97 12v Cummins with 170k miles it will start just fine?

Yeah but I usually keep mine plugged in. If I don't I can still start it but obviously takes a lot of cranking, maybe about a minute if it negative out. So make sure to get good batteries like 800cc

Keep it plugged in, the block heater does more than the grid heater in the intake ever will, and if you know it's going to be really cold, add some diesel antigel to the fuel at fillup. You won't have any problems.

It would have been a little bit funny, if it fired up right when your dog, was walking past the tailpipe. For an old Dodge the Dashboards, isn't that bad.
