I've been b-boying for years. If I knew, or practiced, other styles today, I would be a much better b-boy. Just by watching how other dancers interpret their dance and the music, there is a lot of inspiration that you can get from dances besides your own

Do you still dance? If so, just throw yourself into other styles, capoeira, floor work (contemporary) and house (in my opinion, it's completely different in terms of mechanics and rhythms but it does fit quite well) are amazingly connectable to Breaking 🤘🏼

Ok high key-- This is a massive dub for animators, wtf. So many dances, slow mo, and breakdowns in a single video. Explanations of the basics and even some history. I've struggled to collect animation reference this good in all my 20+ years of drawing. INCREDIBLE work.

History and context are SO important and I love how everyone emphasized that here. Especially for dances rooted in THE culture. It is disrespectful to siphon those dance forms and not pay homage to the communities and struggles that birthed them.

What does it mean to "siphon" a dance form? Is it mimicking? I'd be ok with somebody trying out any of these styles even if that sombody doesn't know much about the history. Most of the dancers in the video emphasize self-expression as well as community. And, really, dancing isn't the saving the world; it's dancing, so why not? Let people have fun and do their thing.

As a shuffler and as others have pointed out, it is crucial to also include the "T-Step" along with the Running Man as the foundational moves. These two together is what makes shuffling and the illusion that one is gliding through the dance floor. Also as someone from the Chicagoland area, "Mike n Ikes" is not a name used in shuffling. As you said, it has a lot of names and shuffling commonly uses "Crab" like from hiphop or "Heel Toe", but the name "Mike n Ike" is directly referencing Chicago Footwork. While the move is very similar, the name and style differentiate the two. Look up Chicago Footwork by King Charles and Pause Eddie and you'll see where "Mike n Ikes" comes from. I love that the video is showing a glimpse of the history of each dance so it's important to know these terms and where they came from! Otherwise cool video!

Heel is different from Mike n ikes. In funk social dances from 60s/70s this move was the Watergate or the funky chicken. Even further back to Vernacular solo jazz its connected to the Mashed potato or the twist

One thing that I really love about being a (mostly) self-taught dancer is that I've never noticed all the different styles that I've incorporated into my choreographies! I'm mainly a hip-hop, shuffler and waving + whacking dancer, but I've recently looked into breaking to spice up my solo performances. It's amazing how you could use multiple styles in one choreography to compliment each other!

This video was sooo cool and informative. I really appreciated the diversity in teachers and dance styles too. I’m not even a dancer, but I love learning more about all kinds of performing arts. So good!

I've watched an amapiano DJ set once, and the audience danced in a very unique style. I was fascinated by it but I didn't know it was one of the Afro dance styles. I want to learn it!

This is so interesting, I’ve been a dancer for almost 15 years and there’s a lot I don’t know. It was nice learning about other styles too!

Superb video! Really great teaching tool. Short and snappy. Compliments to the camera person and video editor. Much love to Steezy and the team. ❤ I have to say my most favourite styles of all time are breakin', popping, waving, robotics(most funk styles), new jack swing/old skool hip hop party dances, house, krump, bhangra/ bhangra freestyle and dancehall. Oh one i loved to watch but unfortunately never got to try lindy hop!

As a shuffler I do have to add one major thing that was overlooked. T-step. I'm not gonna be a gatekeeper like the old shufflers were saying that "its not true shuffling unless there's t-step" but its equally criminal to only include running man as the main step and completely overlook the t-step given how fundamental it is/was to the origin of the style.

I LOVE this, the way they all talked about the origins and the history behind each style makes me so happy! Beginner dancers need to understand that is not all just about the movement but the knowledge and understanding of where the style came from to be an amazing dancer❤️

I'm glad that STEEZํ thought of international audiences and created subtitles for us to understand the content in our languages. I'm Thai and love dancing. In my opinion, it will be great if you review and edit the subtitles because it is quite confusing. for example, in Thai, we don't call "Shuffling" as "สับไพ่". We normally call it 'shuffle/ชัฟเฟิล'. Your subtitles are not consistent as well. This is really good content and it can be better
