I own two of these machines in the xtr1000 flavor, and they are one of the most under rated machines around. That being said a couple draw backs are, weak supply of aftermarket upgrades and the dealers here generally dont carry the xx at all that i have seen. I dont need dealef support and do all my own work on them. I will say this, 28k is pushing it on cost if its compared over to an rmax or krx, they just have more accessories available. AC really needs to look at a 4 seater and i hope now that the lawsuit between AC and rbg/todd is finished, AC can build out the cars they want. My understanding is AC purposely stopped building all version of sport sxs including wildcat until the legal issues were cleared up.

Great overview! I’m pretty much right on par with your thoughts on the XX. I’ve only ever had a very short amount of time with one but I liked pretty much everything about it. Including the display but I’m more of a “simple is better” kind of guy and the display to me is very functional without being overly flashy…lol. I’ve been saying for a while now and even mentioned this in my latest podcast that I think Yamaha would sell far more YXZ’s if they offered a cvt version and that’s what you get with the XX power train wise. Like you I do feel the pricing on the XX is a bit to high to be competitive at the moment with their past and feel Arctic Cat needs to lower its pricing a bit just to be more enticing to potential buyers till they are back up to their former glory. If they offered the base with an MSRP around 18k with the black Hills edition around 23k I bet they would sell like crazy! But then everything is overpriced now a days so it is what it is. It is very nice to see how much effort the folks at Textron are putting into the Arctic Cat brand and I’m excited to see what’s in store for future models!

I've been looking at the XX hard just because it seems like the chassis is probably more overbuilt than anything else out there right now, and I was really impressed with the suspension. This seems like a hard sell at this price though, when they were around $20k it made more sense, wondering if the normal XX also ended up getting larger axles too

I had a 19 Ltd great machine never had any issues that being said I was one of the lucky ones. This machine has a lot of potential but AC just about ruined it by putting a cheaper spec’d transaxle, weak front diff, and poor functioning rear axles and a weak front steering rack and components. I’ve watched this thing in the desert run with the fastest cars but fall short to mechanical issues most of the time. If these things had some consistency in finishing races especially KOH they might be worth 28k but given their history that price is way too high
@timwaddell9450

2018 and early 2019 had weaker components, AC fixed that for 2020 and up models. 2021 axles were also again beefed up. I have a 2020 and a 2021 which get hammered on every weekend, including a rollover. Only minor wear parts so far as issues.

I've always said that if Yamaha came out with a Hi-Lo YXZ it would be a case of "shut up and take my money" ..but this is close. Arctic Cat is in despirate need of a re-brand and i think they are on the right path, however to be competative and inticing in todays "what's your best price" market, they fell far behind with the price point of this and thier other XX's compaired to the competition. Its also very dissapointing that this specific model will not be coming to Canada. Lower gearing, CVT, 3 Cyl Yamaha engine, huge suspension, high ground clerance and looks to be well built.. that would cover the entire eastern side of Ontario to Nova Scotia for a great out of the box trail car.

I have a fresh 2022, just broken in. I'm right up with the front of the pack with the CatXX. Even without a turbo. The power delivery is instant, no waiting for spool-up. We recently finished a St. George UT to Grand Canyon run and out of 30 X-3's and Turbo Polarises, I was number 3 in line. Handling is incredible, rock crawling perfect. A friend has a CAT XX supercharged. Kills everything.

Being in the front middle or back of the pack has nothing to do with it. It’s a Yamaha motor and it’s the only good thing on that machine. Fit and finish is subpar compared to everything else. Its grossly overloaded and It’ll break down and you won’t even be in the pack
@TheBandit7613
@TheBandit7613 Жыл бұрын
@@Captndarty The finish is not CanAm quailiity but much better than Polaris. It's obvious, you have never seen one in person, it's built like a tank. Much stronger than any machine right now. Watch Shock Therapy's video. They pre-ran the Baja 500 and said it feels showroom fresh at the end. They raced the X-3 after putting 10's of thousands in frame and suspension upgrades. They said buy a Cat XX if you want a strong machine out of the box. Finish is fine. Nice painted panels and the doors fit well. More interior space and legroom than everything else. Best out of the box handling. Front of the pack, dude.

The XX is dated and overpriced, especially the Black Hills Edition. Other normally-aspirated competitors offer more for less. I would consider an XX if the price was more competitive and if the aftermarket for accessories and parts was more robust. We may see some deep discounts in the future if the machines go unsold at dealers because of price.
