130 Skill Points within 5 minutes of New Game, Skilled Trait Glitch, Fallout New Vegas

In Fallout New Vegas there are a total of 13 skills and in this video I will show you how to permanently increase all 13 skills by 10 points each using the skilled trait glitch within 5 minutes of starting a new game.

Have you done the infinite xp glitch before leaving the starting area. If you use these two glitches together it could help quite a bit. As it doubles all perks when you rebuild your character you can get to max level before leaving and double up every perk including the skilled perk effectively making you overpowered as heck

@@isaiahlangfords5574 Yeap, absolutely. In fact my next FNV glitch video will probably be on the double glitch exploit. It's crazy how overpowered you can be without leaving the initial game area.

If I remember correctly you can do the glitch on old world blues as well

That's absolutely right, you can do this for a third time to get another 5 points across all the skills. In this video I wanted t keep it short to the first few minutes of the game so will probably make a part 2 at some point.

You can also make it 15 each skill by taking the trait again with the Auto-Doc in OWB, so theorically You could rush to Nipton, start OWB, do that, and then do the whole DLC, since it has no really useful skill checks like for example Dead Money where You need high skills to get Dog/God easier, or to keep Dean and Dog/God alive, only thing I would recommend is not dumping skills or setting luck to 10 if You're gonna do this, because it just makes skills have odd numbers, but that's just something that bothers me because I have severe OCD.

I understand, there are things that I love to do too and if it's not done the way I want it to be done then it does bug me bigtime. On the note if the OWB, thanks so much for pointing it out. I actually have a video listed to go over this glitch but I am saving it for when I start to look at DLC content for FNV. It's one of my favourite glitches. You can repeat this an unlimited number of times. When leaving goodsprings click rebuild character, then pick skilled, accept, then click rebuild character again... You get it.

I had tried it several times but it only worked the once for me. I will have to give this another go and check, if true then this is pretty crazy ha ha.

@@TrappedInFallout You can do it more consistently by performing the "reload dash glitch" just before passing the boundary which spawns the rebuild menu. The menu will respawn for as long as the reload animation takes to complete, allowing you to stack the skilled trait to max all skills.

Thanks Kolo, it's a great glitch and it really helps to get that initial boost when you start the game. It can make things easy but that's a good thing. An instant upgrade to lockpick, repair, speech etc.

I remember the night I found this out about 9 years ago and my 15 year old brain spent so long trying to wonder why my skills where higher then they should be

Your not alone in that. A number of people did exactly that and even better was when I decided to rebuild my character when I played Old World Blues. They were great times. I thought I was rewarded because my character was a 'good guy' in the game.

You can do this 3 time if you have old world blues basically 195 if you re build your character in the auto doc 15x13

Your absolutely right. I actually left out the Old World Blue but as I really wanted to focus on the 'do it with in five minutes of starting a new game' clause. But you are right, you can do this for a third time and not endure any XP penalties as that does not stack.

To have the Skilled Trait you need the Old World Blues DLC installed. As long as you have that installed then you should also have access to the trait.

That's fair enough, it can be a little OP to do this right at the beginning of the game. That said it does help to min/max your character a lot. Also, out of interest, why not? I assume you like to play fair 👍

I would not use it, because i like my perks fair earned. But it's good to know if you want to test something.

That's a fair point and I totally respect it. Getting these points so early will make things in your advantage very quickly. Especially if you combine this with other glitches early on.

Yeap, that's absolutely right. That's a lot of skill points really early in the game. Totally worth doing. Even better is you can do this for a third time in the OWB DLC.

I'm not dogging on anyone but the people saying if you have OWB you can do it a 3rd time but to this the first you need OWB in the first place

Why don’t I have the “Skilled” trait available? it’s not on my list of traits.😢 I can’t find anything to help me with that.

Ah the skilled trait is a DLC trait. You need the Old World Blues DLC to have that trait. That said you can do the other glitches, they don't need any DLC content.

does this only work in the base game? i try it in my new vegas who has all the mods of viva new vegas and it didnt work

Actually no. To make this work you need the Old World Blues DLC as the trait comes from that DLC. If you have the DLC and it still does not work then perhaps one of your mods has patched the issue.

Viva New Vegas includes YUP which patches this exploit. considering the game is almost unplayable without YUP this exploit is effectively worthless.

If you do this trick and select the Skilled trait twice, does the xp penalty stack as well? Or does it stay at 10% penalty?

Great question, it's stays at a fixed -10%. While the skills stats, the penalty does not.

This glitch works on both PC and consoles as long as you have the Skilled trait. To have the skilled trait, you need to have the Old World Blues DLC installed.

I have played FO3, NV and FO4. I have also played each of the DLCs too. I may do so, it's a great idea. For the moment however I am trying to focus on guides for the game but I can and have done perk and skill top and worst lists to help out. Thanks so much for the suggestion, I really appreciate it. I have added it to my video list, I actually have a few videos already in flight.

How do you get Logan’s loophole and the other traits ?

Thanks for your question Martin. Logan's Loophole and the other traits are specifically made available to you if you have the DLCs installed. Logan's one specifically comes from the Old World Blues DLC while some of the others comes from other places. I hope that this answers your question.

Thankfully no, the XP penalty does not stack. It's something that I forgot to mention so an oversight on my side but it does not stack.

Fortunately nope. When you take the trait twice, the skill points stack but the negative XP does not. This means after you select the Skills trait for a second time, you still only have -10% XP.

The only downside to this is that it also doubles the negativeto experience gain. So -20% XP for the rest of the playthrough.

I actually forgot to address this in the video, it actually does not stack i.e when taking the trait twice, you don't end up with -20% xp, it's still stuck at -10%.
