I started playing in February of 2005, so I just reached 18 years since I first set foot in the world of Gielinor. Today is the first time that I have ever seen someone light a torch with a range. I wasn't even aware that mechanic existed. You're the king of discovering these weird niche details within the game. Keep it up!

I like this series so much. Right from the beginning it feels like Settled is so relaxed with this series, the richard character is super goofy and epic. I also appreciate how much this series is circling low level content - something i am more familiar with due to not having time to for high level content. The discoveries such as the torch and boots open history and new info on a 20 yr old mmorpg. It's amazing. I also love Settled's storytelling, a natural. The dying to tribesman poison thing triggered a core memory of mine. 11 years old, first day of membership in 2006, I always wanted to explore Karamja since so little of it was available in free to play. I didn't know what to expect so of course I took my full rune, food and my whole cash stack (I think it was right around 100k), because I figured there'd be some shops that had rare members only items. Not too long into my exploration I find some guy who started attacking me, and to my shock I see a huge hit splat, I think it took me some time to realise that it was poison, and I started panicking, didn't know if it would go away, so I try to figure out a way to get to safety. I decide to try and home teleport, at least if I die I wouldn't lose my stuff (item despawn timers back then were a lot shorter and I wouldn't get back in time) The poison kept interrupting my teleports, my food was gone, hp was low and all hope seemed lost, until I finally was able to home teleport. Only a few seconds after I died to poison in front of the Lumbridge castle, dropping my items. So all good right? Wrong. Back then if a player died other people could see and pick up the items instantly, and Lumbridge castle always has people there. So as I die I see one guy trying to take my stuff, I can't remember exactly what I lost and what I got back, but I remember that I got most of it back. First day of membership, what a magical game this was back then.

That Red D'hide Body grind is... brutal. Dang. Gratz! Regarding the torch: I've always assumed this to be an easter egg from the Sea Slug quest, where you have to light a torch to get back to the upper floor later in the quest. The Clay Oven on the platform, close to Bailey, functions similarly to a range - and you can't light the torch on specifically that Clay Oven with a special message. I always assumed this to be a funny 'slap in the face' to players who thought outside the box during the torch lighting section of the quest - which resulted in them also programming other ranges to actually being able to light a torch. I've never seen this be useful past this 'assumed' easter egg - that's brilliant! Did not expect the 1-tick pick up to work. That's amazing!

Hey Settled, if you see this.. When collecting items to avoid the world hop lag, have Runelite open and regular OSRS client open and log out from one and log in on the other while you switch the worlds on the opposite one. Allows you to not have to wait the 30 seconds in between.

Settled, due to how well received this series is I think you should allow yourself to unlock an inventory space after hitting a milestone. The amount of things unlocked with 2 is crazy and will push the boundaries for what’s doable. It makes sense to do this after F cape

Getting those boots is nothing short of a miracle with how many unique factors led to actually being able to pick them up gven the plethora of restrictions. If there was some sort of riduculous runescape isekai anime or manga, that would literally be the main character figuring out the 1 in a billion solution to that problem. Like, it's actually the sort of thing you couldn't make up because so many factors had to be so perfectly explored and utilized! Honestly insanely impressive!!

I was tucked in bed comfy when I saw this was posted. I woke up, and turned on my computer to sit down and watch properly. I know Settled would have done the same for me.

i actually long ago learned about using the torch on the oven when doing a quest. i believe it was a tip on runehq in the quest guide super cool find for those who didn't know as its pretty common practice just to light a candle/now use a bruma torch/lanterns for light sources.

Fire giants drop rune arrows; at a fair rate, too. You can also hotkey hopping to the next world with a setting in the World Hopper runelite plugin. The world hopping hotkey also works in shops, as long as you use the hotkey outside of the shop interface at least once.

I have to say, cooking a torch makes sense. They definitely thought you'd be cooking it on a _fire,_ but it does make sense. What doesn't make sense is that you can't light a candle in a similar way. I mean, it'd be tricky irl, but quite possible. I guess the devs just must have had their reasons.

Idk if you know this, but if you catch an impling with a net and have a full inventory, you can just spam click the impling in the jar until the jar breaks, giving you just the impling's loot.
