Emotional abuse can be defined as any abusive behavior that includes verbal aggression, intimidation, manipulation, and humiliation. There are obvious forms of emotional abuse, such as yelling, insulting, threats, direct orders, and publicly embarrassing you. It is easy to see when others are being emotionally abused, but it can be difficult to notice when you are in it. Especially when the abuse is indirect or subtle. Do you recognize some of these hidden signs of emotional abuse?

My husband had an affair with a co-worker for nearly two years the last nine months of which I was pregnant with our second child. I found out about the other woman the week before my due date, I felt so terrible and moved back to my mother's home for 2 month with the kids after birth, he kept on apologizing to every member of my family and they all begged me to forgive him, I moved back to our home and I still had that feeling something was off, I felt deep down that I have been manipulated, gaslighted, and threatened on a daily basis. Some of the threats were he was going to kill himself if I didn't do what was asked, he would punch pillow or sofa, stand up against me and yell at my face, stand behind the car and not let me leave, sometimes we would be driving and he would threaten to swerve and hit any truck, hold my shake me, push me aside to a wall, and much more, my in-law were also very verbally abusive towards me. Wasn't allowed to visit my family or friends. If I did or wanted to I had to be ready for an argument, everyday I was reminded that I am not nothing and that was not worth fighting for and that don't meet the standard of being married to their son. Recently, I found out he was cheating on me an had a girl friend after seeing the text and pictures, I became numb. I have been a good wife. I listened to every insult and fight. I never gave up what I knew, thanks to this hacker who help me extract enough information from his device. Someone on here share a link to the hacker who helped me clone his phone without physically touching it. All I did was send his phone number to him through a remote link sent to my email,I was able to access all of his text, email, Facebook and Instagram chat real-time call listening and his long deleted messages as if the phone was physically with me. Perhaps, you are in a similar situation and you need help you can get in touch with him on Instagram by searching his 𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞👉👉👉👉@𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐥_𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐳 on Instagram

What if ex of 6 year comes back after few months of breakup and claim to be changed but you don't feel the change(he became emotionally abusive in the 6tj year, threatening my friends, humiliating me in public and and vandalising college property, making scenes in your college for 9 months) I still love him but i don't think he is right for me anymore Although he did care for me a lot But based on what he did last year, i had no option but to leave, i tried to make things right by sacrificing but he kept doing same thing. People stopped talking to me in my college.

Don’t ever let someone use “their culture” as an excuse to have controlling behavior over you. Emotional abuse is not necessarily obvious. One of the hardest things to accept in an abusive relationship is the fact that *you* are not to blame. It becomes easier to blame yourself, that maybe you are at fault for their abusive behavior. Because to finally accept that *they* are to blame is to accept that you truly are a victim, which is very hard for most people to do. It is easier to accept the status quo and blame yourself than to realize they are the problem and to make a drastic change in your life, like ending a relationship.

@Krishna Patel Positivity is the best way to confront this situation. Be positive. Have you tried praying, idk if your Christian but God is here for you. I’m having trouble with the same problems right now, maybe not as extreme, I’ve lost all my friends over quarantine and my sister yells at me and verbally abuses me, we have to keep our mind on the positives. Pray to God, tell him you need an escape, try to make new friends. I know it’s hard right now, because of quarantine, maybe try online. A way to find positivity is to find joy in yourself, you don’t need to rely on others to make you happy. What are some things you love to do? Do those things find joy in what you love. Things will change I promise you that.

Abuse occurs when expectations/entitlement about the relationship exceed compassion for the other person. Remember that abusive people actually feel like they're the victim for not getting enough attention. As long as you're compassionate, willing to accept that the other person is still a separate person with their own life to live, and eager to accept your own faults + put in the effort to grow and improve upon them, you should be fine. 😁
@AlisInterrail
@AlisInterrail 3 жыл бұрын
@@CFSworks This is a double-sided weapon and we should put extreme care into drawing healthy boundaries. Let's say you are dating a person who is emotionally unavailable, gaslighting you, untrustworthy. You 99% become insecure and start putting blame / questioning their whereabouts. So the other person puts blame on you saying you are controlling (while they keep meeting other people on dating apps, saying that you are toxic for not giving them trust while you should, and that you are not compassionate enough because you don't understand that for them commitment is hard). You see what I mean? I think we should be very careful when talking about compassion, because that is one of the biggest doors into manipulation. *Informed* kindness and compassion for the other person are key. And compassion for ourselves too, that does not mean entitlement. Again, it's a healthy balance matter. In any case, very likely if you wonder whether you are the abuser or not, you probably aren't...

@CFSworks
@CFSworks 3 жыл бұрын
@@AlisInterrail In my experience at least from seeing that play out in other people, 90% of the time this is because of projective identification. The abuser *knows* abuse is happening, so can't deny that, but denies that they're the abuser and instead projects onto the abused. If the abused identifies with that projection, they can begin to act out the role (perhaps they get irrationally angry upon sensing their abuser's suppressed rage). It's a pity because it makes the gaslighting work a lot faster than otherwise. Unfortunately it's really hard to tell who's responsible for what in a projective situation like that. But both parties will be aware that abuse is happening, they just won't be able to agree on who is abusing whom (and maybe it's going in both directions). In a situation like that, the relationship should really just be ended.

Did I see ANY of those traits in my relationship? I was a teenager when I unwittingly married a narcissist; I was steeped in ALL of those traits for 20 years. Confused and exhausted, I finally left the marriage because I did not want to grow old never being heard. For the next 18 years I had no contact with my ex, but I continued to do those negative things to myself. But I got back together with her last year hoping to get some answers to ease my confusion. She did not answer any of my questions, but she started bulling me right were she left off 18 years ago. But because of that break, I finally saw how destructive and unacceptable her behavior is. Its sad, I am now 56 years old, I will do my best to be happy, heal from this abuse, and for the first time ever, start my life.

I was in an abusive relationship on and off for years. I'm so glad I finally snapped out of it and left. It might be tough, and you might be afraid. It's okay to be afraid. They've conditioned you to be constantly fearful so that you bow to their whims. There's always help. I had to call victim services at my local police department to help me, and it was scary. But, I'm thankful I mustered up the courage. If you need help, there will always be someone. 🖤

Every point shown in this video and in all the other videos from your channel, I CAN RELATE . Been in a very toxic , emotionally abusive , threatening relationship for two years and literally that made me do mistakes that I never thought of . That period changed my whole character in two years and at one point I started being rude and bad to everyone Including to my parents . I lost my best friends who meant the world to me . Life just went from 100 to 0 . My career was disturbed , mindset was disturbed and now Iam a complete inferior and a total anti social person with intense fear inside and cant afford to give it a thought of getting into a relationship. This led to anxiety issues when I be around women and can’t go anywhere , where I see too many people . Everything goes scary now with huge inferiority complex. It literally makes you feel guilty for stuff that pushed you to do and of your reactions because of their actions . So kids please see someone for a while till you are sure and avoid rushing into a relationship. PERIOD. Looks can be deceiving and your life might completely change in a negative way . Focus on your Career and on your mental health . Love everyone ❤️

Its so important to note that this ISN'T just couples! Your friends and family can be this way. I spent years thinking this ONLY happened in relationships but I've been victim to emotional abuse by my brother. At first I only thought it was natural sibling rivalry but no, it was ABUSE. Dont let anyone make you blind to the fact that this can happen with any relationship you have with anyone be it a friend, coworker, family member or lover.

@@justinalee7306 after being in therapy for months and rebuilding my self esteem, I think I can safely say that these people don't really know what a mature relationship is. They are incapable of communicating and blame it on you. It's the very typical (and also fair in that case) treatment that a child expects from a parent: the parent is supposed to sacrifice her needs and to understand the child without questioning, because biologically the child is still not perfectly able to communicate them. Except, these people are adults now. Move on, you definitely deserve better :*

I'm going through a breakup and after we talked a lot, I realized how abusive I was being /: The controlling part started at the beginning of our relationship after going through a trauma due to my father's extramarital relationship. I needed to know where my ex BF was and who he was with, not because I couldn't trust HIM but because I couldn't trust anyone anymore... 💔 The last two years of our 7 year relationship I realized that I was doing 5 of this behaviors: 2- 4 - 5 - 10- 14. I wish I had noticed before, it was never my intention to hurt him 💔😞 I hope people are able to see this video sooner so they can work on themselves before they ruin everything as I did.

Together with him my blood pressure got very high and I thought it was because of me not exercising (because I couldn’t always do that when I was planning to go to the gym he came to visit or made me feel guilty!) Two months after I broke up with him I checked my blood pressure again and it was even a little bit low 😮 I really did my self a big favor by leaving him. I've been trapped in this kind of relationship, not as the partner, but as the child trapped in the middle, who was also being abused.

My aunt kathy verbally abuses me by yelling at me whenever I voice my opinion and my mom won't do anything to help me, instead she just let's it happen and then gets mad at me whenever I bring it up. Like WTF mom if you really loved me then you wouldn't be letting stuff like this happen. Thanks for listening.

It must be some weird family dynamic going on. Ask your Mom how would she feel if she was in your place.

I cannot believe that you don’t realize you’re in such relationships like this. Makes you wonder what you miss 👩‍🏫 and how did you not see this coming. This breakdown gives you real clarity and make you wonder was I really with a person like this?

I’m getting emotional abuse by trying to keep my friend from doing drugs, smoking, and all that. Maybe I should give up, it’s been like this for almost a year.

I feel like crying everyday but it somehow feels like my body is tricking me into thinking I am fine. I feel so sad but it seems like my body is telling me I am happy. Does anybody know why or what I should do?

I feel the same.. My mind says that u r being too sensitive, u r strong enough, stop crying.. Even I feel like crying until I run out of tears. I think it's due to bottling up our emotions for a long time, and being made to feel guilty or ashamed or weak for being ourselves or vulnerable, that has lead to these unintentional thoughts rooted in our minds.

I just realized that I have been emotionally abusive to my partner. Another thing I realized is how I was being treated for the past 5 years of my life by my ex. I am making a promise to be better for this dude. He is literally worth everything!

I have constantly been accused of cheating, always told what I do isn’t good enough and that I need to “improve”, would tell me that I need to be happy yet they constantly criticised me and made me feel insecure, they would say I’m trying to silence them when I voiced that I don’t like being insulted, constantly rejecting how I feel, starting arguments whenever I had something important/whenever I felt good, crying every single night and today was my last straw. I blocked him on everything.
