And you might want to check your manual...Mine says do NOT twist the dipstick when checking the oil and it's Powermax 824 OE I just bought used from 2021. Another great video. One thing I've learned over the years is 4 cycle small engine oil contains a zinc additive which prevents excess wear on engine parts. Air cooled engines run hotter than liquid cooled engines and because of that, tolerances are set to deal with hotter engine temperatures. Toro makes a winter blend 5w30 oil for easy starts. Ariens, MTD and most major brand snow blower manufactures offer winter blend 4 cycle 5w30 engine oil for their outdoor winter equipment. I am sure automotive synthetic 5w30 oil would work fine in the winter, but it doesn't have the added zinc for air cooled 4 cycle small engines. The Toro 5w30 winter oil is about the same price as a quart of synthetic blend automotive oil.

PS: Our main problem with jamming, is when we pick up newspapers. Jams the thrower. Often have to pound these out with rebar rods and hammers, or use blowtorch to disintegrate them. Rocks are usually just thrown out, unless 2+inches in diameter. Only had this happen once in 20+years.

Question. How do you add to the auger oil on the same unit? The instructions are a little lax. From it seems to say, every season you need to check the auger oil, pull out the stopper with pliers, pull the dipstick out, clean it off, put it back in, take it out - and if it is more than 3/8ths of an inch from the top of the dipstick, add auger oil until it is the right amount. Is this what others believe? Thanks.

Well, this is embarrassing. :) I've never checked that auger oil! The procedure you describe makes sense to me.
@Buc_Stops_Here
@Buc_Stops_Here 2 жыл бұрын
@@PurpleCollarLife Thanks. Well, I guess I will find out after this winter is over and I check it. It has it because you don't have auger pins in the Toro units, instead they oil the auger internally through the top of the unit. They claim the gearing of their auger stops before breaking (like a carpet gets caught in the auger, it stops) and therefore they don't need pins.

Hi Sharpshooter - Wearing hearing protection is a great idea. I have worn the foam ear plugs under my stocking cap a few times, but not every time. Winter isn't as easy for hearing protection as the summer. In the summer, I wear the 3M hearing protection.

Usually when we are using the blower, we are wearing heavy hats, goggles, and a hooded anti-weather jacket. Noise never gets thru enough to matter. Need to hear the street noises, so you do not get run-over by another vehicle. Look both ways always.

It has plenty of lift capacity of logs the choice was saving the money for the backhoe or the cab. Shuttle shift gave more PTO power for the mower then the hydrostat. Look for a quality root rake grapple one that has grease nipples and double top doors to hold a load securely

@@PurpleCollarLife Good day Sir, you can go up a little more than 24 hrs ( 50 hrs ) with your outstanding generator Sir. On this PDF maintenance schedule ( page 42 , cdn.powerequipment.honda.com/pe/pdf/manuals/31ZT7601.pdf ) They recommande 100 hrs but since the oil will go bad in less then 6 months if not used from mineral oil, if you use synthetic oil it is good for 1 full year or 50 hrs of use ! So I do change the oil every 24 hrs when I used it, ( it give a chance to clean the engine after not been used for a long period ) and when I do not used it, it is every year ( if no emergency power failure had occur 🙏 ). I bought my Honda generator brand new in 2010 and like in this video ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nt2TlKl-xL-rlKM.html) do take the time to look at the importance of grounding your generator at the beginning Sir and you can see it is working great after more than 10 yrs and will be for a very long time too !!! I use high octane fuel with preservative in it and keep it in dry environment ! Hope that help Sir, I forgot to mention that is my step father that influence me to bought honda generator and he is an industrial maintenance technicien for power generator for various brand and me I had use many types of generator on military airports too !!! Have a great week end and hope that help !!! ( keep clean your air filter and the generator it self !!! ) CHeers !!!

Someone's video mentioned not liking the crush washer to have to change the oil but he didn't know what he was talking about as Purple Collar shows you how to easily change the oil. I replied to the the other video also as people that saw it would have said WTF, you have to take out a fixed crush washer to change the oil? I won't buy that!

Toro markets this unit as if it doesn't have shear pins. They're correct, it has hardened steel shear bolts, not pins. I sheared one of the bolts with a rock on my first use and it was a pain to change, and my scraper bar is bent from it. So, the marketing is a bit deceiving: the blower is very powerful and apparently the right conditions can mimic a shear pin.

I thought that it was designed to stall out before there was any chance of sheering the bolts. But I'm not positive. It definitely has some big throwing power and is a great machine to use!
