Another glue commonly used for laminating and boat building is resorcinol. Wonderful stuff. If you need many different size of curves (like frames of a boat) you don't have to fabricate a full mold for each, you can draw the curves on a lofting floor and bolt down 90° angles on the lines at intervals for the clamps.

I like the use of the ratchet strap I use clamps all the way around when I do this method of forming. I just think that the clamps are more accurate.

Hi rob great vid I presume you were using ply as it was readily available I didn't see in the vid but I'm guessing it was still slightly flexible when removed ( depending on what use it is going to be used for this could be a good thing or not) If you wanted a stiffer result use thinner real wood laminates from an old 2x4 cut in to 2mm thick strips with the grain all running in the same direction as the 90 degree ones in the ply aren't really doing a lot as there shear strength runs along the width of the piece it doesn't matter if they have to be joined end on end as long as the joints are spread evenly along its length (this is where thinner laminates and more of them comes in to play). as boat builders we use this form of construction all the time and it can be done in many different ways for many different uses if you want to read something on the subject the early forays in to this are covered in Herishofs book" boat building" for the best results though I would use thickened epoxy resin just thick enough to hold a peak (like egg whites when making meringue)although having said all that I'm sure there is a really good reason why your doing it the way your doing it and cant wait to see what it is your going to make next. I used the same process for the stem ends on a cedar strip boat. Rub some parafin on the mold and it slips off perfect with no residue.
